Halloween Nail Art 2014 & Weigh In Week 4

Halloween Nail Art

Happy Halloween to all you Gouls and Gals (sorry I couldn't resist)
I won't be celebrating apart from my nails, so I thought I'd show them off.
I usually get all excited about nail art for Halloween, but I haven't had the time or inclination this year i'm afraid!! So here's what i came up with... 2 hands = 2 different designs

LEFT HAND

Pumpkin fingers with an accent nail of the scaredy cats hiding in the dark...

Pumpkin Nails

RIGHT HAND

Lotsa scaredy cats hiding in the dark and an accent pumpkin finger.. I forgot to paint my thumb on this hand, not sure WHAT I was thinking putting in a smiley face, but it is kinda creepy isn't it?

Creepy Thumb

WHAT I USED:
OPI Nail Envy (base coast)
OPI Ridge Filler (base caot)
Orange = Missguided, Splash & Polish - Mismatch
Black = Essence - 144 -Black is black
White = Essence tip painter
Seche Vite (top coat)

I faced the scales last night expecting a gain after the long weekend, so I was pleasantly surprised to be down half a pound :)  i won't bore you with a confession of my long weekend, but it was pretty bad... I've been back to food optimising since Tuesday tho, so its all good again :)

I'm aiming to loose 3lbs next week... if I pull my head in I can still get my Club 10 this year (loosing 10% of my weight)
So that's 17.5lbs in 7/8 weeks.... I need a mini target to aim for.....

Weight lost to date: 6lbs
Onwards and Downwards, the Slimming World way :)

St Patrick’s Day Nail Art - 5 Shades of Green

St Patrick's Day Nails

St Patrick's Day has arrived again, and it has a special meaning for me in terms of nail art because it was the first time that I ever attempted nail art J

Here are links to my  Paddy’s Day nail art from last year.

  1. Pots of Gold
  2. Leprechaun belts
  3. Spotty Tri-colour & Shamrocks

Admittedly I didn't give myself a lot of time to get creative or inventive. I went through my polish collection to find how many shades of green I was in possession of.
I found bout 7/8, I’m not a huge green wearer, so this was a lot for me, unfortunately 2 polish's were dried up in their bottles :( and so have gone to polish heaven (or the bin)

I couldn't decide which shade would be best to use, and so decided that since I had 5 shades and 5 fingers……. Well you can guess how that panned out.

So here are my 5 shades of Green, they all needed 2 coats and I topped them all off with Seche Vite Top Coat

What do you think of these shades? I would be more inclined to choose the darker colour I think if I was to do a full mani of Green. I Like the ring finger Green tho as a Paddy's Day green as it reminds me of Shamrocks the most (random I know)

WHAT I USED

Thumb               - Rimmel London Pro -361 Mermaid Green  (Dealz 1.49)
Fore Finger        - Catrice -  35 Petrolpolitan (Sam McCauley’s 1.79)
Middle Finger     - Sally Hansen – 450 Fairy Teal (Dealz 1.49)
Ring Finger         - NYC – 298 – High line Green
Baby Finger        - Avon Speed dry – Don’t be Jaded

Are you a fan of this colour? Will you be sporting Green for the weekend that’s in it or wetting the shamrock?

If you do attempt some Paddy’s Day nail art, I’d love to see.. leave your link below

NOTD: Bling Neon - Models Own Pink Punch

I do like a bitta sparkle in my life and what better way to jazz up the nails than to add a little bling

I think Models Own Pink Punch was my favourite polish of the summer, I wore it a LOT and it was brill on the toes too.. So I decided to add a little bling to my nails, I may have went a bit OTT on these because once I started adding it I couldn't stop!!!
Prepare to see a LOT of  photos

I used so much top coat to keep the bling on that my nail literally peeled itself off!!! See the evidence for yourself.. I was gutted :(

SELF PEELING NAIL

I liked the above nails a lot except for the fact that the bling got caught on EVERYTHING. So I decided to redo them but just use the bling as accent nail!! BUT before I could take photos of this mani, I was carrying the polish and a book and a drink all together across the kitchen and dropped the polish, YUP, it smashed all over the porcelain tiles! My heart dropped to my toes!! I had to get down on all fours with baby wipes and scrub!!! I wasn't thinking about my nails at this point only about lifting the colour from the tiles!! I had to use some nail varnish remover and cotton wool aswell as wipes!
This did not work out well for my nails :(
I was gutted by the end result. But at least I saved the tile (which would have been waaaay more expensive to replace!!

NOTD: The Sun is Out :)

The sun was out when I done this mani, I forgot to post it at the time!! Oops So I thought I'd show you it now. Better late than never eh :)

I started with 2 coats of yellow, followed by a top coat..

I then used a ring enforcer and striping tape to do my accent nail, I was going for rays of sunshine....

I liked this look and decided that I did indeed have the patience to do all fingers the same..
Except the thumb, I messed that up, so I just turned it blue :)

These lights at the Corona Gig back in the Marquee in June were my inspiration for this nail art, aswell as the sunshine of course :)

My Scooby Doo copycat nails!

I'm a copycat, I'll put my hands up and say it, but that's how you learn right? you see something on someone else, be it a dress, shoes, scarf, lipstick and you think "I'd want to try that, I wonder where they got it" "It must be mine"
Well when I saw this nail art guest post last week by Sharon from Behind Green Eyes, it stayed with me and when the following evening it was time to paint my nails, I was automatically pulling out the bits from this post to replicate it :)

The instructions from the post were clear as they always are when Sharon is instructing, and these were pretty easy to replicate, the only thing you need is patience while you wait for the different colours to dry.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE these nails, I love how the colours work together, how the lines are almost crisp and sharp (I'll keep practicing) When I look at them I think of Scooby Doo :) I can't explain really why I love these so much, but I just do, its just one of those things I guess. I instantly loved it and was very sad when they started to chip (after 3 days) its defo a colour combo that I'll use again.

I also noticed that my gym is painted in these shades too... lol.. tis a popular combo :)

What I used
Avon - Don't be Jaded
Models Own- Purple Pukka
Essence french tip liners
Seche Vite Top Coat

NAILS INC. ST JAMES - Red

So as I mentioned yesterday, I was away at the weekend. So I decided to keep my nails plain and simple for the weekend (and matching all my outfits) So Nails Inc St. James was the man bottle for the job.
Its one of the freebies from Glamour magazine. A fabulous red it is too :)
What do you think???

I really like this colour, it took 3 coats to make it super red and a coat of Seche Vitae top coat sealed it nicely and made them super shiney and smooth. I'm starting to see why so many beauty bloggers call this top coat a holy grail product, its definately a fab product.

I had 2 days chip free, but even at that, the chips aren't hugely obvious. I've been wearing this colour since Friday and I really like it but right now I'm itching to jazz them up.. So watch this space....
