Halloween Nail Art 2014 & Weigh In Week 4

Halloween Nail Art

Happy Halloween to all you Gouls and Gals (sorry I couldn't resist)
I won't be celebrating apart from my nails, so I thought I'd show them off.
I usually get all excited about nail art for Halloween, but I haven't had the time or inclination this year i'm afraid!! So here's what i came up with... 2 hands = 2 different designs

LEFT HAND

Pumpkin fingers with an accent nail of the scaredy cats hiding in the dark...

Pumpkin Nails

RIGHT HAND

Lotsa scaredy cats hiding in the dark and an accent pumpkin finger.. I forgot to paint my thumb on this hand, not sure WHAT I was thinking putting in a smiley face, but it is kinda creepy isn't it?

Creepy Thumb

WHAT I USED:
OPI Nail Envy (base coast)
OPI Ridge Filler (base caot)
Orange = Missguided, Splash & Polish - Mismatch
Black = Essence - 144 -Black is black
White = Essence tip painter
Seche Vite (top coat)

I faced the scales last night expecting a gain after the long weekend, so I was pleasantly surprised to be down half a pound :)  i won't bore you with a confession of my long weekend, but it was pretty bad... I've been back to food optimising since Tuesday tho, so its all good again :)

I'm aiming to loose 3lbs next week... if I pull my head in I can still get my Club 10 this year (loosing 10% of my weight)
So that's 17.5lbs in 7/8 weeks.... I need a mini target to aim for.....

Weight lost to date: 6lbs
Onwards and Downwards, the Slimming World way :)

NOTD: Neon Green Leopard

As yer aware from my last post on this set of Penney's neon nail polish's. See post here.

The Green colour was my favourite, but took 4 coats to make it opaque and wearable. Add a top coat to the mix and the nails were kinda thick to wear.

4 coats later

I liked it but thought that it needed something.. I do luv a leopard print mani (a leopard print anything really..lol)  So I used nail art pens's (also from Penney's) added a few silver blobs and outlined them with the black pen.

And here are all the photos I took.. I think the captions tell a lil story

Nail pen went mental

NOTD: Bling Neon - Models Own Pink Punch

I do like a bitta sparkle in my life and what better way to jazz up the nails than to add a little bling

I think Models Own Pink Punch was my favourite polish of the summer, I wore it a LOT and it was brill on the toes too.. So I decided to add a little bling to my nails, I may have went a bit OTT on these because once I started adding it I couldn't stop!!!
Prepare to see a LOT of  photos

I used so much top coat to keep the bling on that my nail literally peeled itself off!!! See the evidence for yourself.. I was gutted :(

SELF PEELING NAIL

I liked the above nails a lot except for the fact that the bling got caught on EVERYTHING. So I decided to redo them but just use the bling as accent nail!! BUT before I could take photos of this mani, I was carrying the polish and a book and a drink all together across the kitchen and dropped the polish, YUP, it smashed all over the porcelain tiles! My heart dropped to my toes!! I had to get down on all fours with baby wipes and scrub!!! I wasn't thinking about my nails at this point only about lifting the colour from the tiles!! I had to use some nail varnish remover and cotton wool aswell as wipes!
This did not work out well for my nails :(
I was gutted by the end result. But at least I saved the tile (which would have been waaaay more expensive to replace!!

My Scooby Doo copycat nails!

I'm a copycat, I'll put my hands up and say it, but that's how you learn right? you see something on someone else, be it a dress, shoes, scarf, lipstick and you think "I'd want to try that, I wonder where they got it" "It must be mine"
Well when I saw this nail art guest post last week by Sharon from Behind Green Eyes, it stayed with me and when the following evening it was time to paint my nails, I was automatically pulling out the bits from this post to replicate it :)

The instructions from the post were clear as they always are when Sharon is instructing, and these were pretty easy to replicate, the only thing you need is patience while you wait for the different colours to dry.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE these nails, I love how the colours work together, how the lines are almost crisp and sharp (I'll keep practicing) When I look at them I think of Scooby Doo :) I can't explain really why I love these so much, but I just do, its just one of those things I guess. I instantly loved it and was very sad when they started to chip (after 3 days) its defo a colour combo that I'll use again.

I also noticed that my gym is painted in these shades too... lol.. tis a popular combo :)

What I used
Avon - Don't be Jaded
Models Own- Purple Pukka
Essence french tip liners
Seche Vite Top Coat

BLACK & GOLD Nail Art - **Gatsby Inspired**

Hey Guys,

After seeing the film The Great Gatsby, I wasn't mad about the film, but I loved the style and glamour of it all.. I was born in the wrong era!! But I'd never have been as glam as those ladies were **le sigh*
But anyhu, it was the credits of the film that I was inspired by, all that black and gold and clean lines, I had seen other bloggers do Gatsby inspired nail art, so I decided to hold mine back for a little while, because everyone and their cat was talking/blogging about it!!!

So this is how my nails started, plain and simple.

Then I got happy/creative with striping tape

Overall, I was happy with how these turned out. Using the tweezers on the striping tape really helped me.
I'm getting the hang of it. Practice definitely makes perfect :)

I used:
Catrice - Oh my Goldness
Essence - 144 -Black is black
Essence - 67 - Make it Golden
Striping tape
Tweezers
Top Coat - NYC 202 Grand Central Station

NOTD - MODELS OWN- PINK PUNCH

Hey Guys,
As ye know, I'm a big fan of the neon trend and since I bought me the Models own Neons I've been trying to get as many wears out of them as possible! Well it would be rude not too *heehee*

I really like this pinky/peachy/ orangey colour.. it depends what way the light catches it as to what colour it is at any given time, the application of this is a bit gloopy, so bew sure to swipe the brush off the bottle after a dip and you'll be ok. This took 3 coats to be all lovely and bright and pretty, 2 probably would have been enough tho.  I then added my top coat to make it extra shiney.

I let them as above for maybe a day but then I was mad to try out a few ideas that I had in my head on them, the first was to stick some little diamonds on to bling them up. I used the diamonds that were in the top of the nail art pens that I bought in pennys. I used a blob of top coat and a toothpick to pick up and place the diamonds, easy peasey :)
I did paint over the whole lot then with topcoat to make sure they stayed put! The diamonds unfortunately had minds of their own and within a day I'd lost most of my left hand, but my right hand stayed put! weird as I done them both at the same time.

MY OTHER ATTEMPT
In my head it sounded good to attemot to free hand flowers and add little diamonds as the bud in my flowers, sounds cute right? That it does, unfortunately my arty fart skills aren't up to much and my nail art pen wasn't in a co operating mood for this one!
But I said I'd show ye anyways

So there you have it, a lovely bright summer colour and 2 nail art attempts that I've tried.

have you tried anything lovely and bright this summer yet? I'd luv to get some reccommends for something new and bright and lovely (yes come and feed my little addiction, like i need the help! lol)
