Pancake Tuesday

I tried this recipe for Pancakes a few month ago from Lovely Girlie Bits Blog (Link here)
and decided that I would give these Magic pancakes another go for Pancake/ Shrove Tuesday.

I also bought a mix in Tesco's, one of the “just add milk” and if you use the milk as your Healthy Extra A, the mix makes 10 pancakes, each with a syn value of 5 syns, and that’s before you add any toppings!!

5 syns PER PANCAKE

For these magic pancakes, you can have them for free if you count the 35g oats as your Healthy Extra B or syn the oats at 6 syns.. all the other ingredients are free.. so you can make a good few pancakes from the batter with a total of 6 syns before toppings.
Definitely the way to go I think

So all you need is 35g porridge oats, any free Mullerlight (I used Vanilla) Sweetener & 2 eggs

Place your 35g of porridge oats in a bowl, mix with half a Müllerlight yogurt, add 2 tbsp of sweetener & 2 eggs into the mixture..

Blend until it looks like a batter (I put mine in the fridge for 40 mins, while I had dinner)

Pre heat frying pan and spray with fry light

Use a desert spoon and measure out roughly *12* small pancakes(I made 6 small & 1 large)

Fry one side for about 4-5 minutes until it stops bubbling

Flip over and cook for further 3-4 minutes until golden brown/ burnt like mine

If you wanted to have these for a total of 6 syns ((or free if oats are your HEB,)) then serve these with lovely free/speed fruit & the other half of your Mullerlight

If you've saved all your syns to have these as your treat (I know I have) then here are the syns for other toppings that you might want to top your pancakes with.

Other toppings
Lemon = Free
Sweetener = Free
Sugar = 1 level Tablespoon = 3 syns
Choc Shot – 1 level Tablespoon = 2 syns
Jam (reduced sugar)  =  1 level Tablespoon = 1 syn
Nutella  = 1 level Tablespoon = 4 syns
Peanut Butter = 1 level Tablespoon = 4.5 syns
Maple syrup = 1 level Tablespoon = 2 syns

Golden syrup = 1 level  Tablespoon = 2.5 syns

For ahem research purposes for the blog, I decided to try a few of the toppings on my little experiment... All of the below came in at 13.5 syns (including 6 syns for the oats)
Which isn't bad at all

For any of you lovely ladies that are banana fan’s, check out this link to the Skinny Doll’s blog for banana pancakes
Skinny Doll Banana Pancakes >>> here <<<

Slimming World Ladies beware that mashed banana is 6 syns, so these are not free

I hope where ever you are today that your enjoying a pancake or three :-)

January 2015 Update

There’s something to be said about being a weight loss blogger who's kind of crap at losing weight. It’s embarrassing, and that’s why I haven’t been blogging all that much in the last few months.

I feel like my blog posts have become whingey and full of excuses, they’re aren't as positive or as progress-full (is that a word?) as I would like them to be….

But I think that this is ok? I’m not perfect, no body expects me to be and sometimes life gets in the way of things.
Also I’m like a bad penny, I might be down but I’m certainly not out. I refuse to give up. I’m not making much progress being a yoyo, but I’m refusing to give in and stay like this.
Because I’m not happy and I’m not comfortable, and I’m refusing to settle.. I've only got one body and I've been treating it like crap for years! Its taken me 30 years to realise this and now I’m sorry I've treated myself so badly!

Here’s a little update as to how I've been doing, January went well for me, I was eating good, cooking from scratch, trying a few new recipes, and not going berserk at the weekends (in my head weekend = food party/ all you can eat style! WHY!!!)
So facing the scales after non-food partying weekends was making me feel smug (& also expecting huge losses… why do I decide that 4 days in a row of good eating should equal half a stone gone?)
I was down, 1.5, 1.5, 3.5 and then I had a gain of 1.5.. which I wasn't expecting and I wasn't happy about. Shit happens eh? Yes it does, but what did I do? I ate my disappointment....literally!

Also the following week was my birthday week, so I had a night out, a hangover day/binge, followed by 2 dinners out for my birthday and wait for it….. 5 different kinds of cake for my birthday celebrations… yes, you read that correctly FIVE. .everyone is aware of my love affair with cake and all my lovely friends and family bought me cake for my birthday.. Sure it was my birthday and I was celebrating!!  So the 48 hours before facing the Slimming World weighing scales I had 2 dinners out and ate A LOT of cake
So there was no surprise when I jumped on the scales and had a gain of 5.5LBS

Yip, I managed to undo all of January's good eating and hard work in less than 7 days… But it didn't end there, Oh no, the birthday celebrations weren't over just yet!!
I was out with the lovely Slimming World ladies on Friday night for drinks and pizza slices, I was away on Saturday Night for my Birthday and we had car snacks (yes it’s a thing) and a 5 course dinner that evening followed by drinks (I don’t regret it, it was AMAZING.. and the Breakfast the following day… OMG **drooling just thinking about it**) All the photos are on my instagram page. Click HERE

So here I am, its Monday AGAIN and I’m back on plan today.. my first day on plan is over 10 days, I’m guessing I’m back to the start again with my numbers... that wont be made official until Thursday night, so the next 4 days I am going to try to do a little bit of damage control and get the scales moving in the right direction again!!  I’m back in control again, I made my speed soup last night and that’s a baby step in the right direction at least…
I’m disappointed with myself but I enjoyed every single day of being off plan… but I’m ready to stop eating crap and treat my body properly, it won't thank me for the binge eating!!!
I don’t know what kind of penance would be recommend after that synful confession, but I  will definitely try harder. I have to if I want to start seeing results…..

New Year, Same Me

I think the title of this post says it all.. Yes it is a new year, but I'm still me.

Here's a little update on whats being going on with me this month so far....

I purposely didn't post for the last few weeks as I felt that the net has been over saturated by weight loss motivation and resolutions.

Really?

But that's not to say that I haven't been back on the wagon. I HAVE...Really...

Feeling determined to get rid of the bloat ASAP, I went and had my post Christmas weigh in on New Years Day.
I took my gain of 8.5lbs on the chin (I may have been crying inside) and decided that I would give myself a clean slate, given that it was the new year. So I'm starting from scratch, that number on 1st January was my new start number, the only way is down..

I'm still the same me, still want to loss my muffin top/ cake shelf (as Sarah Millican calls it) and all my other wobbly bits. I still want to feel better about myself and look better. And for now this is all for vanity reasons, but it could become a health issue if I allow it too!! I just want to feel nice.. ( but that's a whole other post)

This year there will be no resolutions from me. Just a promise that I will become a better, fitter, happier, slimmer version of me.
2015 is going to be my year to stop being a yoyo and be a loser, in the nicest possible way :-)

yip.. this is me

I took some photos of me last week, so that I would have something to compare myself too as the year moves on. When I was uploading them to my laptop I found photos from last January when clearly I had the same idea!!  D'oh

So I thought I would compare those. Since I'm going for full disclosure!!
If I'm honest I don't see any difference, (it doesn't help that I have different clothes on...) but you can see the belly in both

I was also surprised to receive an email summary from Map My Walk with a record of my exercise during 2014. If you asked me I would have said that I did very little exercise in 2014, my food was ok, but my motivation for exercise just wasn't there. (we moved out... I had to break in the new couch & watch all the box sets that I could  #Justified #Lazyass)
According to this summary, I went for 55 walks and covered 131.75 miles, it just shows that all the little 20 minute walks do add up... I KNOW...

Turns out I did exercise in 2014

So the plan is to loose weight following the Slimming World  healthy eating plan and to get back into exercising regularly.
