Week 12 Weigh-in 2013‏

Hey Guys,

Hope your relaxing on this bank holiday Monday :)
I got weighed on Friday this week, so a day early because of the bank holiday weekend.

I was up 1.5 on the scales and up 1 in muscle!! its my first time being up on the scales since I started back in January and I'm a little bit gutted to be honest :(
These things happen I guess and I can blame getting weighed a day early and at 4pm rather than 11am!
But I was up, I had a good week I had thought.
I'd had 3 x 20 minute lunch time walks and 2 x Spin & Ab classes, so I was feeling good about stepping on the scales.
I was being extra good because I was fearful of the long weekend (see my post from Friday here)

So I stepped on the scales hoping that I'd be reporting back a good result!
My food diary was checked and they flagged some of my dinner choices as being the reason for not being down my target of 3 (or not being down at all) I had eaten a pork chop, noodles with my chicken stir-fry and I'd had mince in stew! I would not have seen any of these as being super bad! especially as these were my dinner choices. I have to eat.

I was very upset about this on Friday afternoon, but I guess it was bound to happen at some stage and it means that I'll have to up my game and try to be even more careful next week!!

Today's the first of April. And I am so far failing in my efforts to be down 8lbs per month!!

As of today I'm down 11.5lbs, I should be down 24lbs!! Not good, I'm way off target.

But I don't have time to feel sorry for myself, bottom line is I have to try harder, not anybody else. ME ME ME.
So I've rang the gym and signed in for a 7pm spin tonight to kick start my week.
I WILL DO BETTER THIS WEEK!!

11.5lbs  lost, 49.5lbs to go....

Week 11 Weigh-in 2013‏

Its that time of the week again!! this week flew for me!! I spent most of the week trying to recover from the long weekend!!

On the Saturday night I went for a 3 course meal with the boy, it was lush I must say and we enjoyed it, we then went to the cinema and I HAD to have something!! So I had a small packet of peanuts!!

On Sunday, it was St. Patricks Day, my day started with a lovely fry up to “line the stomach” before my day out to break the booze ban, we drank and danced and had a great day, so at 2am it was a great idea to have pizza and chips!! I usually just have a bottle of water as eating on top of booze makes me very sick!!

So on Monday I was a wreck! All resolve, good intentions and will power had left the building! I had a toastie for my breakfast, 2 giant Munchies cookies for my lunch with some coke and then had a lovely Roast in the evening for dinner, followed by apple tart and cream.

I was on a self destruction mission and it worked!!

I had 3 bad days over the weekend and then spent the 4 days of my working week trying to make up for being bold!! This is an old habit of mine creeping back in, and although I’m aware of it, I'm finding it very difficult at the moment to fight the urge!!

On Tuesday morning I was still shattered (aren’t two day hangovers awful) I was back to work and therefore back to some sense of a routine! I drank water and herbal tea all day to try and get rid of the yukky bloated and heavy upset belly I was sporting. I felt like I had gained 5 stone over the long weekend. And it was all down to my own self destruction mode!!
I got a few compliments on Sunday while out about how good I was starting to look, and I let it go to my head “I do look good and I am working hard, so I’ll eat this, this and this” You would think that I’d be learning at this stage of my life, but I’m only too happy to fall back into my own little trap, so that when I fail its my own fault!
BUT because I’ve decided this time to make my journey public, I won’t fail! I’m starting to recognise my triggers and I keep getting back up, even when I do fall down!!

So on Tuesday night I attended what I thought was a 50 minute spin class to try and ease my conscience aswell as my bloated belly!!! The class turned out to be half spin and half abs. it was honestly the longest hour of my life!! The emotions I went through in that long long hour!! I started determined, then I got tired, then my hair fell down. Then my nose started to leak, then my foot almost came loose in the pedal, then I was tired and fit to cry, How sorry I was feeling for myself was no ones business!! Yip I was pathetic! BUT I didn’t stop or walk out! I told myself that I deserved to feel this bad and worse because of what I CHOOSE to eat the three days previous, and this was my punishment!! The abs part of the class was extra tough! By the end of that class even breathing was an effort and every part of me ached!!  But I walked out after that hour feeling like I was taking back control of my body. I had the longest hottest shower afterwards and happily crawled to bed, and slept like a log!!

On Thursday, I was still sore from Tuesday night and was signed up for my regular Spin & Abs class. On my way in I met the instructor and she complimented my weight loss and said I was looking well and asked lotsa questions. I was beaming from the praise from essentially a stranger and this got me through this tough class, where I managed my first side plank from the ankles J its defo the small things!!I don’t know why praise from a stranger boosts me so much more than praise from my family, I guess its because a stranger doesn’t have to comment, so its lovely when they do J and it means a lot to me!

And so I was very anxious about the scales on Saturday morning! Would my 4 good days undo the damage of my 3 really bad days???

It was a funny weigh in, but I’ll share it with you. I was down 1 on the scales, down 2lbs in fat and up 2.5lbs in muscle.

My advisor decided not to “give me the 1 pound loss” even tho I was down, but she said that all the exercise on top of the alcohol had thrown my reading off!!

But I decided that I NEED to give myself the 1 pound and a little pat on the back, I know I should have been down more., but I’m not perfect and these things will happen from time to time!!

I’ve been very lucky this week, I probably should have been up!! And I would have deserved it too!!

I’ve been given the target of 3 lbs for next week, (she said she’ll call it 3 if I loose 2  in the next 7 days!!??)

So I’m going to work hard before the next long weekend as I really really want to have an Easter Egg!!

I hope you had a better week and weigh in than me!!

Week 9 Weigh-in 2013‏

Hey Guys,

I didn’t blog in a week because Moaning Myrtle and Whingey Wendy were in residence and I didn’t wanna bring ye all down just because I was feeling very sorry for my sick self!!!

Its not good news this week I'm afraid. I was up 1lb, and with the week I've had I deserved to be up way more than one pound.

I was sick when I wrote last weeks update, I’d hoped that the worst was over or me but unfortunately it wasn’t. I had a head cold and the fakest sounding cough that you ever heard, but it was cutting the throat off me.

I was eating the usual stuff from my food plan BUT I was having  A LOT of EXTRAS! Saying NO was not part of last weeks vocabulary.
I took the saying “you feed a  cold” to a whole different level. And the strangest part was that I felt no guilt! Usually if I eat something that I’m not meant too, the guilt eats me up and I obsess about whatever extra I indulged in and then go for an extra walk or drink an extra pint of water to try and flush/ burn it off!

However this week the little guilt monkey that has a front row seat in my conscience took the week off! I had cake, biscuits, chocolate treats with my tea -  basically any junk food that was offered and available, I was saying “yes please” because I HAD TO HAVE IT! I ate out 4 times in one week. This was not like me at all!
At the time I genuinely felt like I had to have it!! It was a poor me excuse cuz I was sick,  but I bought into in!

The lack of guilt freaked me out more than anything else. This has never happened to me before, and I hope it doesn’t again! Because it was kinda unsettling to eat this crap and feel nothing! Yes I enjoyed it at the time, but without guilt? It’s a very odd and new feeling to me!

I worked the whole week and the air con at work is what kept me sick I’m guessing! I didn’t ask for time off because I’d taken a day off last week for the funeral, so I suffered on and annoyed my work colleagues with my annoying cough instead!! Sorry guys!! The only pro to having a cough is that I was drinking up to 4 litres of water in the day as well as copious amounts of tea (herbal and the real stuff) The bad thing was that I was shattered by home time each day and so exercise fell by the way side! I managed 2 x 20 minute walks in the week!! (note to self: must do better)

It was a bad week for me. I just want to put it behind and move on. This week I’m feeling much better both body and mind frame.
So I’m not accepting any silly excuses from myself this week regardless of how cold and tired I am (you’d be amazed what I can talk myself out of)

I have 4lbs to loose to hit the one stone mark but also 4lbs away from being the lightest that I can recall in my adult life and that in itself kinda scares the crap out of me but excites me at the same time.

Today I’m wearing a top to work that hasn’t fitted me properly in 18 months, so I’m gonna think about that this week if I feel the urge to have anything extra.
And I’m going to practise saying “No thank you

I hope you’ve had a  better week than me!

Week 8 Weigh-in 2013‏

Hey Guys,
I’m happy to report back this week that I was down 2lbs this week… this is a HUGE achievement considering the rotten week that I have had!

I started the week exhausted having not slept for more than 4 hours straight in 5 nights!! I’m worse than a cranky child when I’m sleep deprived! So I cancelled my Monday night spin, showered and finally slept J
So, I was back on form and ready to make up for slacking off the previous night, however on Tuesday, we received the sad news at home that my gran-aunt had passed away peacefully after a battle with cancer!
It was a sad few days for my mother and grandmother in particular. It was also a lot of rushing around after work, so my dinner and gym plans didn’t exactly go according to my well intentioned plan! But these things happen, life gets in the way of a weight loss plan and for the week that was in in, I just had to take it as it came.  I was counting my blessings and meeting family members that I hadn’t seen for a long time which was nice! (why is it that we only meet our relatives at weddings and funerals? Or is that just my excuse?)
But I didn’t use this unexpected event to go on a binge as I probably would have a few months ago; any excuse for me to jump off the wagon and run into the chipper!!

I had to be clever with my time, so I made sure that I walked for 20 minutes at lunch because I had to cancel all 3 spin classes for the week that I had booked. I stuck to my eating plan for breakfast and lunch and didn’t give into the chocolate biscuits even tho I really wanted too!  And I left the pub after the funeral for a few hours when I knew the finger food would be served to take myself out of the path of temptation! Those tiny sandwiches, cocktail sausages, chicken wings and chicken tenders are delicious and very welcome but I never know when to stop, so I thought it was safer to avoid this part of the day!
I also decided to drive and play taxi and babysitter on the three nights, so I wouldn’t be tempted by the demon vodka J

None of the above was easy, it was a tough and sad few days. I coped with it as best as I could.

I woke up sick on Friday morning and had to go to work! It was a long day! The only positive is that all the coughing was turning my stomach! So I didn’t cheat on my food plan, and I also walked to the shop to buy myself tissues and strepsils! This walk would normally take me 15mins! On Friday it took me 35mins!! I was feeling pretty rotten and very much feeling sorry for myself! I went home, dosed up on cough bottle and went to bed at 6pm!

So after that kind of a week, you can imagine my surprise on Saturday morning that I was down 2.

Its proven to myself that food is 70% of the  battle. People have been telling me this and I’ve said it to other, but never truly believed it, until today.

I had a horrible week, for reasons out of my control, I tried to take control by sticking to my food as best as I could and it worked!!

So the weigh in was a happy ending to my otherwise sucky week.

I hope you had a good week/ weigh in? I’d love to hear from you.

Week 7 Weigh-in 2013‏

Hey Guys,
I think you can tell form the above photo how my weigh in went on Saturday! I keep looking at the photo hoping that it will cheer me up. But unfortunately it isn’t today.

I was down 1 lb this week and its my own fault. I wouldn’t say I was super bad this week, but obviously I wasn’t as good as I normally am and it showed on the scales!

Shall we do a quick recap of my week? I think its necessary.

After my weigh in last week, I went on my Valentines night out with the boy. We went for pizza and to the cinema to see Die Hard 500! I had garlic bread, pizza, fizzy drink, ice cream and rolo’s in the cinema.
The badness should have stopped there but it didn’t!
On Sunday I had a Wispa Gold.
On Monday I had a penguin bar with my cuppa at 11am instead of my pear.
On Wednesday night another trip to the cinema (Zero Dark Thirty) I had a bag of Snack a Jacks.
On Friday I had a penguin bar cuz I HAD to have it!!

So that’s 5 days out of 7 where I didn’t stick to the food plan and it showed. The foods in themselves are small (except Saturday nights hound fest!) but they all added up over the week for me.

I just couldn’t get my act together during the week, yes it was colder and the cold makes me hungry and I was feeling sorry for myself (excuses, excuses, blah, blah, blah)

I was fooling myself into thinking that because I done 3 spinning classes and 2 walks during the week, that the exercise would cancel out my picking!! I did track all the bold foods and I hold my hands up and admit that I had a bad week!
I’m hoping that its behind me now! I think the fact that I wasn’t down more has made me want to try harder! I disappointed myself this week buy loosing “ONLY ONE POUND”
I’m not sure why I hit the scales expecting to be down at least 3lbs  when in my heart I knew that I’d had a poor week! But I’m a great girl for fooling myself!

So I spoke to my advisor and she’s decided that its time for me to shake up my food plan and see will that kick start me back into action.
She also thinks that the spinning classes could be too much on my body at the moment, but has agreed to let me continue with them for a few more weeks before I have to cut them out if necessary. I’m toning my wobbly bits, when I should be loosing the fat, not toning it!! She thinks that for the moment I should stick to a 30min walk everyday and leave the spinning to a later date.

I’m not ready to stop spinning completely. Its my hobby. I enjoy and look forward to getting out of the house, me time, a good work out and sleeping like a baby afterwards.

I’m hoping that the slight changes to my foods for this week will be enough to get the scales moving a little bit faster for me.

If you’d like to know what the changes to my daily eating I’m making, let me know and I will get clicking and do a photo post of my slightly different food plan

No one said this would be easy, but I know it’ll be worth it J

So raise your water bottle and lets have a toast… “Here’s to a good week with a great result at the end”  ****fingers and toes crossed***
