"only" lost 1lb - Weigh In Week 9 + 10

Sorry I'm so late with posting this!! The Christmas madness has hit and time is just flying by!!

Two weeks ago, I was up 1 pound and was very disappointed, its a total cop out but I'm blaming my jeans for giving me a gain that night!!

Last Thursday night I was down 1 pound, another excuse for this one, (I was hoping for a bigger loss) I weighed in on a different scales!!

The last 2 weeks weigh in's have left me feeling very disappointed BUT I refuse to give in, I feel great and I feel like I've lost wight even tho the scales hasn't confirmed this in the last 2 weeks!!

Slimming World Overnight Oats & Weigh In Week 8

How do I make my Overnight oats is a question I'm asked almost weekly on my Instagram account. its such an easy breakfast to prepare and surprisingly filling also.

So I've finally decided to write a "How To" post on it

Ingredients:
35g Quick Oats   (Healthy Extra B)
Mullerlight Yogurt (Free)
Fruit (fresh or frozen) (Superfree)

Slimming World Overnight Oats

 1. Add scoop of Oats to glass, 1 scoop = 15g Oats,

2. Next add in yogurt to cover the oats ( I used Mullerlight Vanilla with chocolate sprinkles)

3. Add in your fruit (I use frozen raspberries)

4. Repeat step one, by adding another scoop of oats (1 scoop = 15g Oats)

5. Add in the remaining yogurt

6. Top with fruit

Slimming World Overnight Oats

7. Place in Fridge overnight

8. Remove from fridge, grab spoon & enjoy
(I have to take mine out at least 30mins before I eat because its too cold, but that's just my preference)

Slimming World Overnight Oats

This is a lovely breakfast even if your not following the Slimming World Plan.
The recipe says you can use 35g of Oats, I personally just use 30g grams, because my scoops is 15g a go and its easier.

This breakfast is surprisingly filling for the size of it, I eat with my eyes and at the start thought this was tiiiiiny.. BUT... I've been proven happily wrong :)

Have you tried Overnight Oats? Or do you plan to now?
Let me know how you get on if you do try them :)

This week, I weighed in on Thursday evening, at my own group. I was  down 2.5lbs

Pre holiday Weigh In 2014

I'm sorry to report that I didn't get my one stone award last night at group!!
In fact I was up 1.5lbs, not the post I wanted to write just before I head away on my holidays.

I was full of good intentions and determination but sometimes life just gets in the way and that's what happened me this week. I wasn't as on it as I should have been! I guessed a few syn values of things, had a few slithers of peoples birthday cakes, and all these "little  tastes of things" add up & I think that's what caught me.

I was of the attitude that I  was being sooooooooooooo good and I was... with my main meals, but my snacking was my down fall, (as usual) small slice of birthday cake on Monday, shared a bit of cake on Tuesday, had a few Milk Tray sweets on Weds (sure they're only small) & we won't speak of the bars of Milka that were in the canteen at work!!!
Once I get a taste for sugar at all, I'm a divil for it and turn into the girl that "can't say no"

Say NO to Cake

Not that its a good enough excuse, I gave into it, I know my behavior is not rational when there's cake to be had and I was sorry afterwards but not sorry enough that it was a once off!!
I done it 3 days in a row and still thought that "it'd be grand" silly me!! I know I'm only fooling myself but it was just one of those weeks for me. I'd like to blame the weather, mother nature, god, the government, the voices in my head that you can't reason with BUT not myself because I had the best of intentions so that exempts me from blame!!! (I wish)

So there you have it. Cake/ my greediness is the reason why I failed to meet my holiday target and it's all my own fault!
I'm a little disappointed but it's showing me that I cant have my cake and a good weigh in, so after my holidays I'll have to give up the cake for a bit!!
Something will have to go and it needs to be my muffin top.

Woman of the Year & Weigh In

So I never mentioned in last weeks post that I was nominated for Woman of the Year in my Slimming World Group. I was very surprised to be nominated, but its not all about who has lost the most weight, its also about people that inspire and help other people in group. So it was  nice thing to be nominated really.

7 of us were nominated 2 weeks ago, so at last Thursdays meeting after the weigh in's the 7 of us had to talk for 2 minutes about how Slimming World now fits into our lifestyles, then the others in the group got to vote for the winner. I didn't win, but that's ok because the girl was won I was thrilled for, she's 16 and received her 2 stone cert that night, so she was definitely a worthy winner. As a nominee I got a bunch of flowers, which was a nice touch I thought, I also won the raffle, which was SW cupboard staples, so I was happy.

I post all my photos of my food and exercise daily if you want to see what I'm eating here on instagram & here on Twitter

Thursday night was also Taster night, where all the members make a slimming world friendly dish & share the recipe. Its a great way to try new things and also get new ideas. I brought mini quiches & mini smash pizzas, which went down really well.. I tried SW friendly brownies & SW ferrero rocher.

I was down 0.5lbs at weigh in, which is ok (I got my appetite back after being sick, but 5lbs in 2 weeks is good in my opinion)
So this week I'm going to aim high, get extra Superfree into me and be down 3lbs before I go on my holidays and get my one stone cert

Setting Goals for August 2014

Hey All,

Hope ye enjoyed the long weekend! I'm blaming that for me not posting on Monday (ahem or Tues or Weds!)

I'm happy to report that at my weigh in last Thursday night, I was down 1.5lbs woo hoo :):)

Setting Goals

So I've been thinking that maybe I should set a few goals for myself for the month of August to keep me motivated and focused

1. Stay within my syns everyday and on the Slimming World plan  (not just on work days, very bad habit)

2. Get out and walk AT LEAST 3 times a week (I used to get out 5 days a week!)

3. Look for a circuit class/ boot camp or spinning class in my area and book in (I think I need the structure of booking in back in my life)

4. Download Couch to 5k AGAIN and get past week 3 (I've signed myself up for the Cork mini marathon on 28th Sep 14 so that's a motivation)

5. Get my stone Cert before I go on my holidays (4 weigh in's to go)

OK, so numbers 2,3 & 4 are all exercise related but I think that I feel better in myself when I'm more active and I'm also less likely to have the time or the inclination to sit in and eat crap/ poorly if I'm going to classes and feeling my boobs hitting my belly and belly slapping off my thighs (yes this does happen even with a sports bra) So I'm hoping that the walking will lead to running and if I get out and do that 3 times a week, then I can easily book into a class for at least one night a week...

I think I'm being realistic with these mini goals, every little helps as the famous slogan goes, and hopefully achieving these 5 goals this month will boost my self confidence before I go on my holidays and wear a bikini, but also get me back into exercising full time again.

Do you set yourself mini goals?

WEEK 20 WEIGH IN 2013

Hey Guys,
Aren't the weeks flying at the moment!! I had a MEH kind of week. i just wasn't feeling it. I was doing what I always do but I felt the week was long, I was tired, I felt heavy from muscle ache, I was feeling sorry for myself because I was tired and have carpet burns on my elbow (They're small, but hurt!!)
So I wasn't feeling optimistic as I hit the scales this week to be honest! I was just going through the motions.
I was down 1 pound on the scales, no movement on my fat or muscle this week.
But I'll take it, I thought I'd be the same, so being down at all is a bonus.

FOOD
My food this week was ok! I had my cheat day on Saturday, I had a cream slice cake and Chinese for my dinner as my treats. I didn't have ice cream with the family after dinner on Sunday! Mon - Fri, I will admit  I was hungry a few days, I was craving sugar! On Tuesday evening I had a French Fancy with my cup of tea!
on Wednesday night I was again hungry, so I had a cheese triangle (laughing cow light) I don't want to go back to the habit of eating at night or eating junk! Again on Thursday night around the same time, by belly started rumbling, so I went to bed!!  Not sure why I was extra hungry this week! I think I just wanted extras after the exercise and when the muscle ache kicked in I wanted to behave like a spoilt brat and just eat CUZ  I WANT TOO. I'm glad I didn't give it to all the cravings and voices in my head because if I had, I would have done some serious damage and not felt the better for it!!

EXERCISE
The weather has been good this week, so lunch time walks made a come back. I even power walked my mile in the fastest time yet, 15 mins 55 seconds... So I was happy to get my walk time done a little bit faster :) This week I done 2 classes in the gym. Spinning on Monday night. Spin & Kettllebells on Weds night and Spin & Abs on Thursday night.  I found spinning tough this week, when I was doing the sprints, I felt my legs wobble like they were going from under me and I couldn't pedal very fast! On Weds night in spin my leg came out of my strap and gave me an awful fright! its a horrible feeling! Its rare that it happens, hense the fright I got, thankfully I didn't do any damage to myself!
The Kettlebells part of the class was all new to me! I've avoided trying this because of my back issues! so trying it as a 25 mins class suited me, its tough swinging 8kg bells!! everything ached after 20 mins and my back was starting to come at me! So I don't think that this class will become a regular for me until I'm ready to strengthen and tone but if you are at the stage, then I'd recommend it. I'm terrified that I'm gonna pull my back and be out for 4 months like I was last year!!
I was achey on Thursday going to Spin & Abs, but it helped to go, it eased out my legs, but my legs couldn't keep up with the sprints again! Its an odd sensation! The abs part of the class was where I picked up my trophy scabs! We were doing 500 variations of the plank and I was slipping on my mat and towel, so I was doing them on the carpet directly! So they're my own fault! But they feckin hurt!! I didn't realise how often my elbows hit my desk at work.. so on Fri at work there was a lotta muttering and cursing coming from my corner!  I was very bad, lol.

And that folks is the story of my MEH week! Things can only get better eh :)

If this is my 1lb loss, then I'm happy

My aims for next week
  • To try harder to fight my sugar cravings
  • Be more positive and stop whinging/ moaning
  • Be down 3lbs before the bank holiday weekend

18lbs lost, 42lbs to go....

WEEK 19 WEIGH IN 2013

Hi Guys,

I bring good news this week, great news even, so I thought I'd share that first before I tell you about my week.
I was down 2lbs on the scales, down 5lbs in fat and up 1lb in muscle. A FANTASTIC result.

FOOD
After last weeks weigh in, I was off to Dublin to see the wonderful Beyonce. I was aware that being away I tend to make bad choices, so I went away and decided that I would make smarter decisions rather than eating whatever crossed my path. So before we went to the concert, we went for Chinese, I had Chicken Skewers and Chicken Chow Mein, both were very tasty and filling and didn't fill me with guilt or calories.
Plus I then went to the concert and danced and sang my heart out.. Beyonce was AMAZING.. 2 hours and 10 costume changes later, I was a happy bunny. It was  a great day :)
The following morning we went to a cafe for breakfast. I choose the Vegetarian brekkie rather than the full Irish, I even tried Spinach for the first time, and it was nice.. Again I was full and happy and didn't try to steal the boys sausages or pudding (trust me, that's huuuuuge, lol)
Back to work and routine on Monday and my foods stayed on track, I even managed to eat 2 pears most days. So the rest of my week food wise was good

EXERCISE
The weather wasn't great this week, so lunch time walks were off the cards! I decided to chance a Rip60 suspension class on Tuesday evening. we had to do 600 reps, so 100 lunges, 100 jump squats, 100 burpees, 100 chest presses, can't think of the others, I may have blanked them out. It was a very tough 50 minutes and I struggled throughout it, but I didn't give up, even though I wanted too. I left feeling like every inch of me had been thoroughly worked out.
I couldn't move on Wednesday, well I could move but very slowly, I went for a walk on Weds evening to try and ease my bones out, I would be walking along fine and then my knees would just wobble and I'd feel like I'm gonna hit the floor! It was a very funny feeling and I was wrecked after the short walk!!
Waking on Thursday I was feeling worse than the precious day, (isn't day 2 always the worst) The muscle ache was awful!! everything hurt, I was feeling very sorry for myself and my achey body!! I had to cancel my Spin & Abs for that evening and take a total rest day!!
Friday I was almost back to walking like a normal person, but my legs were still achey and starting to feel like two lead blocks attached to me!! I was DREADING going to spinning class that night, but I made myself go and it really helped my legs, the standing up sprints were tough and I thought that my legs would go from under me, but thank gawd my legs were strapped in, the instructor done a brilliant cool down and stretch session at the end of the spinning class and it really helped me

So there you have it, I had a tough week body ache wise, but my food was more or less on the ball and I got a better loss than I had expected, so I'm happy.

Oh on the way home from Dublin we stopped off in Kildare Village for a little retail therapy and I treated myself to new runners, aren't they lovely and pink? I had to show you all. They were a bargain too :) Should have been €85, I paid €33.50.. I love them and I also loved the price (heehee)

My aims for next week

  • To keep going as I have been, be more aware of what I'm eating and WHY.
  • Eat my pears and yogurts everyday (this is a tough one for me)
  • Be down 2lbs

17lbs lost, 43lbs to go....

WEEK 18 WEIGH IN 2013

Hey All,

I hope this post finds you all well. I want to start by thanking all of you that have read my post from last week with all the photos of me over the last few years. (my most read post to date, eeek)
The comments in the post itself and the support through Twitter has blown me away. So thank you to all you lovely ladies and guys. Its nice to know that I’m not alone, when it is a very personal journey that we’re all on. Weight loss and gain has become a part of me and my life but an embarrassing part! And I’ve chosen to go public to keep me on track and it’s the support of all of you that keeps me going at the moment. If I didn’t have to report back every week, I feel like I would have fallen off the wagon a lot more and be sitting in a ditch in my own gluttony right now kicking myself that I have to start over AGAIN!

But I don’t, thankfully and today I have good news to report, well kinda. I hit the scales on Saturday morning and I was down 2lbs. This was the 2lbs that I gained last week. So I’m back on track.
I must admit that I had been hoping for a 3lb lost just so I could say that I got rid of the gain AND lost an extra pound.
BUT 2 lbs is good ESPECIALLY when I had a 3 day loooong weekend and a busy week!  At the weekend I ate out (choose the wrong food, pasta carbonara, yummy but bold) and I think that I spent a lot of time over the next few days burning that off! So I caught myself out with that!

EXERCISE
I went to a spinning class on the bank holiday Monday, which was fab after doing nothing all weekend! But I over done it and pulled my back! So I had to take it easy on Tuesday. Wednesday I managed a walk without pain! I decided to chance a spin and abs class on Thursday, I was fine and a full hours spin on Friday evening, this was grand too, well tough, but no back ache or pain afterwardsJ
So I think it’s the 3 spinning classes that saved me this week and got me back on track

FOOD
Admittedly I could have been better with my food over the last week. The long weekend in my head means eating out and treats and ice cream!  I was trying to be careful and I ate out on Saturday night, which we  know I picked the baddest thing on the menu! On Sunday, I had a lovely roast dinner in the afternoon, I was going to see Comedian Billy Connelly that evening and to meet friends for drinks. I never ate before heading out, so I was hungry and temptation was around me. I had a bottle of coke and a packet of Rolo’s at the gig and afterwards a few drinks and a pizza slice!!
These things happen I know and it makes me normal and I shouldn’t beat myself up about them! But sometimes it seems like the harder I try to “be good” the bolder I am!
So I was glad on Monday that I had a spin that evening, I did have a bacon toastie for my breakfast, not too bold but yummy and I had a super delicious butter icing cupcake that day too!

4 good days followed the gluttony of my 3 day weekend! But sometimes the good days take longer to undo the damage of the bad days! My weekends should come with a warning label or I should have my jaw wired shut on Sat & Sun!

Thankfully my bad weekend didn’t catch me this week, but it has thought me that I won’t get away with eating like that all the time. Even when I reach my target, I’ll have to be carful and find a balance that works for me. It’s something that I know that I’ll battle with forever. But once I stay in control and positive I’ll win

Here’s to a good week ahead. I’m aiming for a 3lb loss this week.

I hope you had a good result with your weigh in xx

15lbs lost, 45lbs to go....

WEEK 17 WEIGH IN 2013

+2lbs this week. There's no way to sugar coat it! I did everything I normally do 3 walks and 3 x spinning classes! But I was away for a night last Saturday, went out for a yummy blow out 3 course dinner and on Sunday morning had a full Irish Breakfast, which was yummy... made me feel sick as a dog and I think I spent the rest of the week trying to burn off those 2 bad choices that I made!!

On the scales I was up 1lb in muscle, 0 in fat (which is good) which leaves 1lb of being up unaccounted for!
So I'm guessing its a left over pound from me eating like a pig last weekend!

These things happen from time to time I know and being away for a night was lovely and great and long over due but me being out of a routine always throws my eating habits out the window too.

For me I see eating out as a lovely treat and instead of choosing wisely I decided to have a blow out. I was conscious of what I was doing and I cared, kinda. But not enough to stop  me from eating all the crap!!

yes I felt awful guilty, super bloated and my belly did not thank me in the days after.. Lotsa hot water and lemon and exercise did help. So I was punished for my badness!

I woke on Thursday morning with a scratchy sore throat and I could feel a head cold coming on (I'm the queen of head colds at this stage, so I can feel the signs!)  Thursday was a looooong day for me and I was hungry too! I went to my spin and abs class hoping that I could sweat the oncoming sickness out of me and get rid of the hunger pangs!! I went to bed early on Thursday night! It was the only solution I had!!

However I felt like crap on Friday, like there was a weight coming down on my head and I had a horrible headache!! If I coulda rang in sick to work, Friday would have been that day! But I didn't, I went to work and did not suffer in silence! I tried a vitamin C drink and it helped a little!
I skipped my lunchtime walk because I knew I would walk to the garage and buy the contents! I was that hungry and feeling sorry for myself!! Yip! I'm a disaster when I'm feeling a bit off! I didn't give in tho!

So I was extra gutted about my weigh in since I went to bed hungry 2 nights in a row!!

I've been advised that I need to start making my own free soup again to use in these circumstances, because I'm not meant to feel hungry like that!

So I'm just gonna put this bad weigh in behind me as a blip and plan better for next week!

I hope your enjoying the long weekend xx

WEEK 16 WEIGH IN 2013

Happy Monday,

I bring good news.. I was down 3lbs this week... wooo hooo
I had a good week, so I was hoping for good news J
I think that 3 spinning classes in the week is really helping me at the moment, I also managed to squeeze in 4 walks. So my exercise was good and I had 6 great days with food too.

I do find that come Thursday and Friday, I’m almost tempted to give in and have some sugar or “something nice” but this is something that I’m becoming more aware of and I think its my own brain trying to make me fail. So I’ve been staying strong when these thoughts hit me! It’s a constant battle with myself. I know it sounds silly and its mad for me to try and explain how this works for me. But any kind of emotion = food for me. Happy = food, sad = food, tired = food, cranky = food, tired from exercise = food, bored = food. Or any reason at all. If my friend says she’s sad, I’m thinking “what kinda cake/choc could I buy to cheer her up” madness I know, but I’ve operated like this for years.. so the re-wiring process in my brain is gonna take a while to catch on as the new automatic response.. So I have to be extra vigilant with myself. Yip I’m self policing my thoughts aswell as my actions.
Its not even that I’m thinking that I’ll have whatever it may be as a treat because I’ve been so good the last few days. Its just purely because A.) its there B.) I want it, just cuz C.) Sure why not
These aren’t even real excuses, but at the time my urges take over and I want to give in, and I can tell you know, its never worth it. I’ve caved many times and its never worth it.

Source: Google Images

My other good news for this post is I've finally beaten my own personal mental block.  That's right, I am now the lightest  I have ever been in my adult life.. its taken me a while but I've beaten my own demons and now the only way is down form here. I was thrilled to receive this piece of news on Saturday morning as I’ve been so so close to this moment since mid March and I kept bouncing back and fourth from it. But I’ve done it now, I’ve finally broken through my mental block wall J
I’m sure I’ll face many more challenges and blocks and plateau’s as I continue on my weight loss challenge, but this is my first BIG BREAKTHROUGH and I feel like I want to shout it from the rooftops.. I didn’t give up on myself, yes it took me a while to get my head around it and get on the right track. BUT I DID IT, Nobody else but me.

Its almost a relief to prove to myself that I could do this. So this is the 4th time in 12 months that I’ve lost the same stone. But this week my total weight loss tally for this year is 15lbs, which means I’ve lost 1 stone and 1 lbs and that little 1lb means that I’m now into my second stone… so there’s no going back. The only way is forward.

I know I’m gushing, but this feels like it’s a very big deal for me J so as my treat I bought myself some new gym clothes in the Nike Outlet shop. 2 pants (1 x long & 1 x short) and a pink vest to break my black cycle for the summer.

Week 15 Weigh-in 2013‏

Hello hello,
Its that time of the week again  and I've good news to report thankfully :) I was down 2lbs on the scales, down 4lbs in Fat and up 2lbs in muscle... So I'm happy with that result.

I  think the effects of Rip60 last week showed on this weeks scale reading. But I did work extra hard all week ,I made sure that my portions sizes were correct. I stuck to my food plan 98%
And that’s only because I went to give blood and you have to have sugars before you can leave so I had a cup of club orange and a bag of Taytos on Tuesday evening!

During the week I went to Spinning, Spin & Abs and I faced another Rip60 class. I also managed 2 x lunch time walks, so combine moving my ass everyday with eating 98% good and you get a good result on the scales.

The scales did dither between two numbers when I stepped on and it stuck on the higher one, so I’ve taking that to mean that I’m already 1lb down before this week has even started J which can only be a good thing really J

This week I have booked in for 3 x Spinning classes and I’m thinking about trying a Kettle bell class also (little afraid for my back with regards kettle bells, but I won’t know until I try)
I’m back on track and fighting my urges and I’m not feeling deprived, the weather is also starting to improve and with that comes the prospect of brighter and tighter clothes for the summer.

So that thought is spurring me along and keeping me away from the biscuit tin. Work had my favourite biscuits in the kitchen last week and I did not eat one! I may have had a sniff or two, but I did not eat one and they still disappeared just a quickly from the kitchen without my help. And I was happy once they were gone. Cuz the temptation had left the building and I had not given in J

For me it’s the little things that I applaud myself for. I’m delighted that I didn’t break for a biscuit last week! Had that been the week previous, I would have had 3!! I feel like I’m back on the right track and getting a good result on the scales proves that I can do this. I just need to keep putting one good day in front of another and the days will turn to weeks and the pounds will hopefully melt away.

I hope your weight loss journey is going well..

Week 14 Weigh-in 2013‏

Hey Guys,
I'm back with another weekly update. My week didn't quite go as I had hoped/planned....

First off, my food could have been better last week, I always say I could be better, I know; but I found that last week I was picking in a way I thought I’d put behind me!
I guess it shows if you take your eye off the ball even a little, you start to slip! Least I do anyways!

I better explain myself a little better, so that you can see what my “excuse” was for picking once again!! Doncha know I’ve always got an excuse!

I was running late on Tuesday evening for my Zumba class, so I rang to see if I could get a space in another class later on that evening. They switched me to a class called Rip60. I’d heard of it, but that was about it, I thought it’ll be good to try something new, like I’d said last week! So I turned up thinking it couldn't be any worse than my first few Spinning classes!! I was wrong, so wrong!

Here’s the description of Rip:60 Suspension Training:
RIP60 is the next step forward in Suspension Training. It is the ultimate full body and core workout. Using your own body weight there... are dozens of different exercises, that will literally work your entire body. The major advantage of RIP60 is the added rotational movements it allows, which enhance your power and power is the key to RIP60.

It was a good class, but sooooo tough, I can’t even do a full body push up! And I thought I was fit from Spinning , this class was a total shock to my body! I tried to keep up with the class and was very enthusiastic at the beginning with my squats and lunges leaning back and using my own body weight to pull me back up. We worked our body in three sections, legs, arms and then chest & back.
While we were doing some of the exercises that involves the ropes rotating as you pull them, I felt dizzy and like I was going to vomit, I’m told that this proved I was working hard!! It was a good 50 minute work out and the time did fly by, kinda! By the time I was leaving my whole body was vibrating and my legs felt like jelly! I was thrilled that I’d survived the hour to be honest, but knew I’d be feeling the affects soon.

The following morning however, I couldn’t move. I’m not being dramatic  (well not really) Everything hurt and ached and I was walking like a 90 year old in need of a zimmer frame. I had to think about every move before I made it. My work colleagues were highly amused by me! I was like this for 3 DAYS, nothing helped or eased the pain! I had to cancel 2 spinning classes because I couldn't physically do it! I tried to go for a walk to ease the muscles but found that I couldn't walk fast or far! My thighs & knees felt like they wouldn't support my body, I had a constant toppling over feeling when I had to walk more than 20 steps at a time!!! I really could done with a walking stick.. Yip I was a total pity and to think that exercise did this to me!! My family and friends got a great kick out of me, so at least I had the comedic factor on my side!!

By day 3 I could walk almost normally but I was achey. By day 4 I was more or less back to normal, but Day 4 was my weigh day.. So I only managed to get 1 class into the whole week due to being in crazy achey pain from one class!! My body took soooo long to recover, it was embarrassing!

So I hit the scales on Saturday morning and I was up 2lbs on the scales and up 3lbs in muscle.

So the class, did work! I however whilst in pain Weds – Fri felt like it was ok to have one biscuit and a mini kitkat.(Poor me like)  I ended up having “something small” every day last week.
As you know all those “something smalls” add up and 5 something smalls is HUGE and makes a difference on the scales!!

But you know what, it was the kick up the arse I’ve needed. I need to stop falling back into my old habits, and continue trying to be the best I can be and at the moment that will be one day at a time.
I feel more positive this week. I’m also determined to go back and do another Rip60 class this week, last week it kicked my ass (and the rest) so this week I’m going to go and try it again, it can only get easier at this stage, no way will it take me 4 days to recover again (I hope) But just incase, I’ve booked 2 x spinning class before I revisit Rip60, apart from the pain aspect afterwards, it was a really good and challenging class, and I would recommend it already.

My Targets for next week to see a better result:

·         3 x Classes + lunch time walks (weather permitting)
·         No Picking
·         No feeling sorry for myself
·         Be down 3lbs at next weigh in

I hope your planning ahead to have a good week too xx

Week 13 Weigh-in 2013‏

Hey Guys,
I was very tempted to skip the scales this week. But after all the positive feed back I received from my last post I decided that I needed to bite the bullet and step on the scales and basically cope myself on!!

To my shock, surprise and delight I was down 3lbs on the scales, I had mentally prepared myself to be told I was up and I needed to pull my head in, wire my jaw shut and get on with things!!
My adviser was thrilled for me, especially after Easter weekend, I'd eaten 1.5 Easter eggs after all and I'd had red meat for dinner 4 days in the week. (which is a big no, no)
After she looked through my food diary she agreed that I should have been up this week too!
She reckoned that the last couple of weeks of low scoring weigh in's are starting to show and catch up and stand to me, and that kinda makes sense :)
I would say that in the last week I was 80% good with my food, I found myself picking and eating extras alrite, so I need to pull that back!!

I think the thing that helped with my results was the extra exercise, since I've been in a bad mood and not in the form to be around people I have been hitting the gym (it also helps that I have a 30 day class pass, so its free) Last week I went to total Spinning bank holiday Monday night and I went to Spin & Abs on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. I also went for 4 x lunch time walks and on Friday night went for a 2.5 mile walk... So I would say that I was 100% good with moving my ass. 3 spins and 5 walks in 5 days.. I think that's a personal best for me :)

I'm going to try and get back to writing more positive posts which will in turn send out positive messages and vibes to others, because having a positive mental "can do" attitude is key to me succeeding on this journey and i do want to succeed  I've been self sabotaging and that has upset me also.. so I know I need to stop feeling sorry for myself, yes its a tough thing to stick with but its definitely worth while and its what I want.
Nobody is making me do any of this. Nobody has a gun to my head. This is all for me and about me.

I saw on twitter over the weekend that the skinny doll is BACK with her next challenge sign up today, Its a 9 week challenge that will take us through to the June bank holiday weekend.

I've decided that I need to start setting myself some targets instead of just talking about doing it.

  • I plan to be down 2lbs next week
  • I will also try new classes this week (zumba and rip60)
I hope you had a good week and weigh in xxx

Week 12 Weigh-in 2013‏

Hey Guys,

Hope your relaxing on this bank holiday Monday :)
I got weighed on Friday this week, so a day early because of the bank holiday weekend.

I was up 1.5 on the scales and up 1 in muscle!! its my first time being up on the scales since I started back in January and I'm a little bit gutted to be honest :(
These things happen I guess and I can blame getting weighed a day early and at 4pm rather than 11am!
But I was up, I had a good week I had thought.
I'd had 3 x 20 minute lunch time walks and 2 x Spin & Ab classes, so I was feeling good about stepping on the scales.
I was being extra good because I was fearful of the long weekend (see my post from Friday here)

So I stepped on the scales hoping that I'd be reporting back a good result!
My food diary was checked and they flagged some of my dinner choices as being the reason for not being down my target of 3 (or not being down at all) I had eaten a pork chop, noodles with my chicken stir-fry and I'd had mince in stew! I would not have seen any of these as being super bad! especially as these were my dinner choices. I have to eat.

I was very upset about this on Friday afternoon, but I guess it was bound to happen at some stage and it means that I'll have to up my game and try to be even more careful next week!!

Today's the first of April. And I am so far failing in my efforts to be down 8lbs per month!!

As of today I'm down 11.5lbs, I should be down 24lbs!! Not good, I'm way off target.

But I don't have time to feel sorry for myself, bottom line is I have to try harder, not anybody else. ME ME ME.
So I've rang the gym and signed in for a 7pm spin tonight to kick start my week.
I WILL DO BETTER THIS WEEK!!

Week 10 Weigh-in 2013‏

Hey Guys,

I'm happy to report that I hit the scales and was down 2lbs.. Woo Hoo :)

I stuck to my food plan 100% no sugar or junk and I didn't eat after 7pm any night.

My exercise still isn't back to where it was as my annoying cough still hasn't left the building! I managed 2 x lunch time walks and I chanced one class that was 25 mins spinning and 25 mins abs, I coughed my way through the first 10 mins but I was ok after that, phew :)

You can see from the blog that I changed my nail colour's A LOT this week, lol.. And it worked to my advantage :) I didn't eat and someone else had to make the tea

Also as a treat I had a shrinking violet wrap and lost 5 inches from my wobbly bits in under a hour, so I'm very happy over all this week.

This post is short and sweet, I promise to get back to proper blogging about my journey soon because its exactly that a long journey for me.

I hope you got good results this week and enjoyed the St Paddies Day Festivities :)

Week 9 Weigh-in 2013‏

Hey Guys,

I didn’t blog in a week because Moaning Myrtle and Whingey Wendy were in residence and I didn’t wanna bring ye all down just because I was feeling very sorry for my sick self!!!

Its not good news this week I'm afraid. I was up 1lb, and with the week I've had I deserved to be up way more than one pound.

I was sick when I wrote last weeks update, I’d hoped that the worst was over or me but unfortunately it wasn’t. I had a head cold and the fakest sounding cough that you ever heard, but it was cutting the throat off me.

I was eating the usual stuff from my food plan BUT I was having  A LOT of EXTRAS! Saying NO was not part of last weeks vocabulary.
I took the saying “you feed a  cold” to a whole different level. And the strangest part was that I felt no guilt! Usually if I eat something that I’m not meant too, the guilt eats me up and I obsess about whatever extra I indulged in and then go for an extra walk or drink an extra pint of water to try and flush/ burn it off!

However this week the little guilt monkey that has a front row seat in my conscience took the week off! I had cake, biscuits, chocolate treats with my tea -  basically any junk food that was offered and available, I was saying “yes please” because I HAD TO HAVE IT! I ate out 4 times in one week. This was not like me at all!
At the time I genuinely felt like I had to have it!! It was a poor me excuse cuz I was sick,  but I bought into in!

The lack of guilt freaked me out more than anything else. This has never happened to me before, and I hope it doesn’t again! Because it was kinda unsettling to eat this crap and feel nothing! Yes I enjoyed it at the time, but without guilt? It’s a very odd and new feeling to me!

I worked the whole week and the air con at work is what kept me sick I’m guessing! I didn’t ask for time off because I’d taken a day off last week for the funeral, so I suffered on and annoyed my work colleagues with my annoying cough instead!! Sorry guys!! The only pro to having a cough is that I was drinking up to 4 litres of water in the day as well as copious amounts of tea (herbal and the real stuff) The bad thing was that I was shattered by home time each day and so exercise fell by the way side! I managed 2 x 20 minute walks in the week!! (note to self: must do better)

It was a bad week for me. I just want to put it behind and move on. This week I’m feeling much better both body and mind frame.
So I’m not accepting any silly excuses from myself this week regardless of how cold and tired I am (you’d be amazed what I can talk myself out of)

I have 4lbs to loose to hit the one stone mark but also 4lbs away from being the lightest that I can recall in my adult life and that in itself kinda scares the crap out of me but excites me at the same time.

Today I’m wearing a top to work that hasn’t fitted me properly in 18 months, so I’m gonna think about that this week if I feel the urge to have anything extra.
And I’m going to practise saying “No thank you

I hope you’ve had a  better week than me!
