Making Slow Progress & Weigh In Week 7

I tend to be surprised of late when people comment that I’m “looking well” it doesn't happen a lot, but when it has done I scoff and retort with “Eh no I’m not, I’m up a stone since this time last year!”
In my mind I haven’t done anything other than buy clothes in a bigger size for the last 12 months, so I can’t conceive the fact that I could be “looking well”

BUT I haven’t given up either!! I joined Slimming World 2 weeks before I moved out of home, now if that wasn't the perfect chance to go back to my binge eating and secret eating ways, than I don’t think I’ll ever have one.
I was thrilled to be moving out but fretting and fearful that I would fall into the trap of take away’s and unhealthy habits and gain a fortune of weight.

So my Slimming World Journey to date has been sloooow, super slow if I’m being honest and that’s down to me also, but I haven’t given up. I turn up every Thursday night to see how everyone else is and how they’re doing and I can see how far they've come since we all started in April.
They compliment me, ask how my week was, and cheer when I have a loss on the scales. They don’t judge me if I’m up or down, they support me because they understand that loosing weight isn't as straight forward as we’d like it to be and sometimes life/ bad moods/ crap weather get in the way of having a “perfect week food wise”

So at the moment, I’m loosing pebbles rather than stones, but I’m feeling determined, I’m hoping that all the little pebbles that are 0.5lb & 1lb will slowly add up and my clothes will become a little looser and I’ll start to feel a little bit better about myself and a little bit more confident about facing the outside world this Christmas.

So the next time someone gives you a compliment, Smile and thank them; take it, I bet it will put an extra pep in your step.

Because people don’t say these things lightly, clearly they like what they’re seeing and can see something noticeable for them to comment and compliment.. (Or they desperately want to know where you got that dress/ scarf/ foundation / boots)

I know deflecting the comment is the way “us Irish” are programmed (and it needs to stop) so why not try to make a new and better habit and where possible return the gesture (who doesn't like getting a compliment)

This week, I weighed in a day early and at a different group.. I was down 0.5lbs

Poor Sick me & Weigh In Week 2

After last weeks weigh in, I was totally deflated to be honest with you, I'd felt that I'd had a good week and the scales sadly didn't reflect this. instead of this spurring me onto do better, it peed me off and made me want to binge, cuz at least I could tell you why I was up if I was eating shit!!!

I mentioned last week that I wasn't feeling great (is everyone affected by this crazy weather or just me?)
Last Saturday I woke up and my head cold had taken over!! I was a snotty mess to put it nicely!!

So healthy eating went out the window and I was craving all the comfort food, sugar and hot tea that I could get my paws on!! I thought it would be a 24 hour type things and the worst would pass and I would get back to "normal" ASAP..

WRONG.. I went to work on Monday, got sent home, went to bed, every time I would blow by nose (which was a lot by the way) the room would spin, not good!! So I stayed home from work on Tuesday, slept and stayed wrapped up on the couch all day long sipping Lemsips & eating rubbish (my cold insisted)

I went back to work on Wednesday and was starting to feel better, I also ate well at work, which was progress... baby steps, but progress non the less...

HOWEVER, the little devil that lives in the back of my brain was whispering in my ear "have something nice tonight, sure you'll be up anyways, so might aswell have something nice now.. go on..." So the boy was sent to the garage to buy me a creamy car and chocolate.

I'm not proud of my behavior, nor am I condoning it.. I'm just telling ye what happened!! This was my week and this is my truth!!

So I went to group on Thursday night, expecting a gain because lets face it, I deserved it...

I was up 0.5lbs.. Is it awful that I was happy with this? I don't know how it wasn't a whole lot more.

So I'm back to good and in much better health (although if someone would like to give me a nose replacement, that would be great or shares in Tempo)

I know that if I don't cop on now again than this blog will just become confession posts of an over eater, rather than my diary/ struggles to loose me wobbly bits.

I am aiming to be down 4lbs this Thurs to make up for my 2lb gain in the last 2 weeks.

Do you find it difficult to get back on the wagon after a week off plan/ being sick?

I'm feeling determined

Its the little things & Weigh In Week 1

Its the little things

Last week 3 good things happened to me

1. I had a none scale victory and bought my winter coat in a size smaller than I normally would, its     my first Parka style jacket and I love it, I had expected to have to buy it bigger to make it all cosy and snuggly, but no :) Also my boyfriend treated me to it, so it was doubley good

Parka from Tescos

2. I went to Spinning class last Monday evening even tho I wasn't feeling 100% and survived. I was proud of myself for not cancelling when that's what I really wanted to do.

3. I celebrated going out with my boyfriend 3 years by cooking dinner at home.

Dinner cooked by Moi

Cake = 8 syns

So I was feeling good and positive going to group on Thursday evening ( I was also mad to show off my new coat..lol)
I was up 1.5lbs.. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement, I felt like I've been pretty good these last few weeks and I saw a result in my new coat this week, so I was expecting a loss on the scales!!

So the gain could be down to exercise or cake, I don't regret either.

I'll take my non scale victory and my gain and keep going.. that's all I can do.......

Cork Mini Marathon 2014 & Weigh In

I mentioned last month that I had registered to do the Cork Mini Marathon 2014 on Sunday 28th September 2014.... This was something that I had planned to do since the New Year, although to be honest, I had hoped that I would be running it! But running doesn't seem to be working out for me at the moment!

So I decided that I would still do it, but I would walk it...

Start Line

Start Line looking ahead

Start Line still but it went waaaaay back

I turned up to the start line on Sunday along with 10,500 other ladies, all ready to go. It seemed that the majority were in groups and walking/ running for charities. I felt a little lost in the big crowd if I'm honest.
At 1pm, we were off, they let both runners and walkers off together and so the first 10/15 mins were mayhem!! We started off at a crawl with everyone bumping off each other, trying to get around each other and runners trying to get through the groups of walkers so they could get going!!
When we hit the 1 mile mark around the Marina, the crowd was a little more sparse and I felt that I had a little more breathing room and space in general. I put on my iPod and just pretended that I was out for my normal walk and not Vicki- no - mates!!
The temperature was rising also as the race got goings, so when it rained, it was a little bit of a relief. Everyone was in high spirits anyway, so a rain shower wasn't going to change that.

When we turned off the Marina and onto the Blackrock road (which is longer & hillier when walking rather than driving) it was lovely to see all the residents out cheering on all the walkers, local shops had set up tables with water, so they could be grabbed along the way. it was very warm, so a lot of people were stopping for a quick sup.  I didn't, I was afraid that if I stopped I wouldn't "start" again (yip like a battered old car!!)

Its fair to say that I haven't been making exercise a priority and I felt it on this walk!!
The relief I felt when I passed the 3 mile mark :) Only 1 more mile to go I told myself, I could do this!!  I was feeling the affects of walking in the heat with no training and no water in me at this stage! I was also very aware that I was completely on my own! But I kept going, I was determined to finish.  The final half mile was on a fairly straight road, so once I caught site of the end, I was happy.. people say that once they see the finish line, they get a new spurt of energy and run to finish.
This did not happen me!! I just about managed to take my phone out to take a photo of the finish line!! (my fingers felt like they'd turned in to sausages!!)

Seeing the finish line was such a relief

I was so relieved to finish!! you wouldn't have thought it had you seen me tho!! I was fit to cry with the relief, not smile and laugh!! My time was taken, I handed in my number, got my medal and grabbed a bottle of water!!

I bumped into my work friend Jen, she had run the 4 miles in 44 mins (Go Jen)
Below is a photo of us taken with our medals

Me & Jen

I wasn't feeling great from the heat to be honest and right after that photo was taken, I was sick.. on the grass.. in front of EVERYONE!! I was more embarrassed than anything else, but I couldn't stop!
I went to sit on the wall and a lovely lady from St Johns Ambulance came over to check on me and told me to sip my water. I think I over heated (like an old car) and was dehydrated from the heat of the day; that's why I was sick!

So with all the drama I never took a pic of me with my medal!! oops!! so this was taken later when I got home...

I did it

So yes, I did complete this years mini marathon but it wasn't the best of times for me!!

In good news, I was down 3 lbs this week.. so I'll take that :)

I hope you've had a good week

Post holiday Weigh In 2014

Post holiday Weigh In

Number of times I've thought about writing this post 15; Number of excuses I've found not to write this post 37 ; Guilty feelings when I “don’t have time” to write this post 50;
Number of good reasons to not write this post 0; Number of reasons that this post is needed/ overdue 10

Time to pull off the plaster and come clean and own up to my weight gain and get it over with!!! Yes, I have been avoiding writing this post since I weighed in last Thursday night!
But what good is that doing to my mental state of mind? None! As you can tell from the beginning of this post, this has been playing on my mind all weekend. (and I also read the new Bridget Jones book on my hols- loved it)

So I’m just going to say it. I was up 9lbs at my weigh in.
Yes, you heard that right.. 9 pounds. It shows how easily I can gain weight when I eat like a crazy lady, let out /off plan for a week!!

The damage has been done, there isn't anything else to be said on this!! (trust me I've had all the conversations possible with myself over the last week- you don't wanna hear my inner monologue)
I knew a gain was coming but had told myself it would be 5 lbs tops!! (oops)

But 9 lbs is one hell of a food baby. I had a lovely holiday, ate what and when I fancied; for me the damage was done by food and coke, rather than alcohol (although I had some of that too)

Yummy Holiday Dessert

I've had mixed emotions about all of this all of last week… dread.. anxiety.. sick.. fear.. dread again…

I stepped on the scales with my eyes closed, praying for a miracle but expecting the worse and it was confirmed once the numbers settle.

Then the emotions went into overdrive….. sick.. shock.. disgust.. anger.. fear.. guilt.. bad.. bold.. grrr

No one to blame but myself... all my hard work through the summer... undone in under 2 weeks off plan.

This proves how much I need Slimming World and Food Optimizing in my life at the moment, because I have no portion control or self control when "let loose" I'll never be one of those "normal" people that can eat what they like, and I have to accept that and learn how to live like me and how to be good to me and my body.

I felt rotten leaving last Thursday nights weigh in..

But I have a plan.....

When the vomiting bug is a good thing!!

Hey All,

I don't have a lot to report! I didn't manage to put any of my new goals into action yet...
I was minding my niece (1.5) and nephew(4.5) last weekend, so that kept me busy, but not really as "on plan" as I would have liked, there was a lot of eating out and fun and ice cream!!!
Then on Monday I wasn't feeling great and the next 3 days were awful, I had caught the vomiting bug, I ate very little and slept A LOT. Thankfully I'm over it now and my appetite has returned, (just about)

The only good news about being sick this week is that it showed on the scales on Thursday and this week I was down 4.5lbs, (which was great especially after my 2.5lb gain last week)
So this loss puts me back on track for my one stone award before my holidays. 2 weigh in's and 3.5lbs to go

Setting Goals for August 2014

Hey All,

Hope ye enjoyed the long weekend! I'm blaming that for me not posting on Monday (ahem or Tues or Weds!)

I'm happy to report that at my weigh in last Thursday night, I was down 1.5lbs woo hoo :):)

Setting Goals

So I've been thinking that maybe I should set a few goals for myself for the month of August to keep me motivated and focused

1. Stay within my syns everyday and on the Slimming World plan  (not just on work days, very bad habit)

2. Get out and walk AT LEAST 3 times a week (I used to get out 5 days a week!)

3. Look for a circuit class/ boot camp or spinning class in my area and book in (I think I need the structure of booking in back in my life)

4. Download Couch to 5k AGAIN and get past week 3 (I've signed myself up for the Cork mini marathon on 28th Sep 14 so that's a motivation)

5. Get my stone Cert before I go on my holidays (4 weigh in's to go)

OK, so numbers 2,3 & 4 are all exercise related but I think that I feel better in myself when I'm more active and I'm also less likely to have the time or the inclination to sit in and eat crap/ poorly if I'm going to classes and feeling my boobs hitting my belly and belly slapping off my thighs (yes this does happen even with a sports bra) So I'm hoping that the walking will lead to running and if I get out and do that 3 times a week, then I can easily book into a class for at least one night a week...

I think I'm being realistic with these mini goals, every little helps as the famous slogan goes, and hopefully achieving these 5 goals this month will boost my self confidence before I go on my holidays and wear a bikini, but also get me back into exercising full time again.

Do you set yourself mini goals?

Slimming World & me

Hey Guys,

I've been very slow to write a post about Slimming World, even tho I really think its amazing and the results speak for themselves, check out their magazine or website, but even in my group, the ladies are doing so well. I'm delighted for them every week as I share in their success.

I however have been playing the yo-yo game, up and down every single week since I joined in April (not exactly a poster girl for the programme) So I decided that until I got a cert to stick on my fridge then I would not be writing a post about it.
However if you follow me on instagram or Twitter you will be sick of seeing my daily posts of all my meals (sorry not sorry!). I find that taking photos of the food helps me to make better choices.
I also think instagram is great for getting food ideas and recipes. (I'm told that pinterest is too, but I can't get a handle on it.. showing my ages*ahem*)

So last Thursday night... it happened for me.. I lost 1lb and got my half a stone cert.. FINALLY :) I was delighted to get it and the clap I got from my group, it was lovely :) I think my clap was the loudest of the evening ,the girls knew its been a long time coming for me.

Half  Stone Award

So I have a lovely shiney sticker on the back of my book and I have the certificate on my fridge at home to remind me to choose wisely when I open the fridge.

So I'm sorry for the long (not planned) absence, but as I said, I wanted to wait until I had a progress report before I came back on here, otherwise this would be a confessional post about all the bad food I've been eating.

Thankfully tho I'm loosing,  its taken me 3 months to get off the 7lbs but that's ok because I know they are now gone forever and also it means that I didn't fall into the trap of "move in with the boyfriend and gain a stone" that was a big fear of mine.

So I'm back and I'm a total Slimming World convert, so I will be back to posting my weigh in's weekly and letting ye know how I'm getting on. I'll also post some recipes if ye like (the easy ones that is, cuz I'm not the best chef)

Do any of you following the Slimming World plan?  how do ye find it?

Weight Update

**Source Google Images**

****Warning, this post is all over the place, so if you fancy a stroll though my random mental thoughts, read on****

I’m a bit stuck at the moment and I’m finding it hard to find the words to begin to explain where I am at!!
My heads all over the place, I want to loose weight and I want to be fit and healthy and happy, but at the same time I’m tired of the never ending struggle.

I’m sick of the constant battle/ obsessing/ thoughts with myself on the what I can and cannot eat.
I’m a firm believe in the fake it till you make it mode that I sometimes use to get my mojo going and to curb my over eating.

However, my will power has been AWOL for a while now and although I’m full of good intentions, I make food plans, book exercise classes etc,
I’m finding that I’m very easily swayed at the moment. I’m eating my 3 good and healthy meals in the day but I’m also giving myself permission to have all the other extras that I worked so hard last year to cut out. Instead of smiling and saying “no thanks” when offered anything other than a cup of tea I find myself accepting the cake/ biscuits/ chocolate that’s being offered to me and going back for more!

I've been avoiding writing a post because I’m not sure what this means for me at the moment! I kept telling myself that once I've had one total good week, then I’ll come back and be on the wagon and start posting more often. But it hasn't happened!! I've gotten to day 4 and then given in a had a **creme egg (*insert whatever’s going) with my cuppa as a “treat” for being so “good”

But for now, I’m tired!!! Its been 5 years this month since my weight loss journey really began for me and I truly am a different girl to the once who started this quest/journey way back then, physically and mentally. I have made a lot of lifestyle changes. (see photos here

Yes I’m frustrated that after 5 years I am still no where near my goal/aim and that’s all on me and my yo-yo way of doing things. I’m still my own worst enemy and worst critic, but I think we’re all guilty of being very hard on ourselves. My point is tho ( I do have one I promise) I think its time that I accept my body and myself for who I am right now, yes I’m a work in progress.. but that’s how it has to be, and I need to embrace this fact rather than living in denial and avoiding mirrors. (ye read the post about my meltdown over my birthday outfit last month)

I feel like I've missed out on a lot of things over the years because I've allowed my weight issues to rule me and my life.
I've put so many things on the long finger and told myself that I’ll do that when I’m slim. I've missed out on nights out and events because “I’d nothing to wear”  I've avoided going to places for fear I’d be the biggest person in the room and people would stare.  I realize that all of these “things” are my issues and all in my head, but at the same time theses thoughts/ fears have been holding me back.

So I've decided to try and embrace me for now and basically get over myself and start enjoying my life as I am right now. I’m not getting any younger and life is short.

By accepting that loosing weight will be on ongoing theme in my life, I hope that I’ll be more accepting of myself.. I know that I can continue to loose weight and still enjoy myself. ( I just decided that I couldn't, for no reason at all!)

**Source Google Images**

I haven’t completely throw in the towel just yet tho! Yes, I’m eating cake almost every day BUT I’m exercising regularly too.. I’m really half assing things for now and I seem to be almost maintaining. I’m up and down the same few pounds since the new year.

Jan +2

Feb -1.5

Mar +1

I don’t know if any of you can even make sense of this post!
I do want to loose weight, but I’m not willing to commit myself to it 100% at the moment!! I know I’m the only person that can fix this and I’m sure I will…..

I know that this is something that I will struggle and fight with for my whole life and I’ve accepted this to be my fate.

Last Weigh in of 2013 & Progress Report

Its been a while since I updated you guys and showed off shameful Selfie's of myself in Lycra, so here we go.

The last couple of months for me have been very busy as yer well aware, and I've been all over the place scale wise, up and down like a yo-yo!! But I didn't give up or skip too many weigh in's, thankfully, because other wise the news would be far worse!

Here is the link to the start of the year when I first posted a photo of myself in my gym gear back in January, and I can definitely see a difference in myself.. its not a drastic one, but I'm definitely more toned now and have less of a muffin top.

For me loosing weight is something that I'll no doubt be battling with for my whole life and I am learning how to incorporate it into my life and live healthier and make better choices food wise rather than being on a "diet"
So in that sense I'm winning because for the most part I have changes my eating habits, now I'm certainly not perfect and when I eat out I will eat what I fancy and have treats too..

I have been taking part in The Skinny Dolls 14x14 Challenge, I explained it here  in October,
The Doll explains it much better on her page, here

From looking at my weigh in chart for the last 14 weeks, its not pleasant reading.
I've done a tally and I was up 18lbs and down 8.5lbs
Which means in the last 14 weeks I am up 9.5lbs  (correct as of 20.12.13)

So my scales loss for the year 2013 is -10lbs

Altho my non scale victories truimph all the numbers in my mind
  • I feel better about myself
  • I look better (in my opinion)
  • I'm down a dress size
  • I'm waaay fitter and healthier
  • I bared my legs in public in a dress (big deal for me)

I am by no means finished with my journey, I don't know if I ever will be. But you can bet your bottom dollar that I will be back in January raring to go and ready to continue on my weight loss journey, one pound at a time

Weekly weigh in - week 5 of 14x14challenge

Hey Guys,

I was down 1lb this week, it was a good result considering I was out last Friday night (hen party) and Saturday night (Dublin for our 2 year anniversary) I ate out in nice restaurants and fed my hangover.
I was good food wise Mon - Thurs and went to Spinning and Fat Furnace (like circuits but harder)

I got weighed on Friday morning (a whole day early) and then flew to Edinburgh for 3 days for a Hen Party :)

So its been a busy few days for me, with work and recovery. I went to a spinning class last night and I'm back on track food wise today, made my home made soup for the week and that's it really. Its on-wards and upwards from here....

You can see a pattern forming here of how I'm good on the week days but the weekend truly ENDS me. But for the moment this is how its got to be. I've loads on but I find I'm making better food choices when I am eating out (not saintly, but better), which I'm sure will stand to me in the long run.

Hope your all keeping well xx

Weekly weigh in week 4 of 14x14challenge

I feel like I’m living in  “not enough hours in the day” mode at the moment!! Where did the last 7 days go!! I know I've been busy and sick!! But seriously! Its Monday again!! It just keeps turning up doesn't it!!

MY WEEK
My week started well, the sugar withdrawal symptoms didn't appear this time (I was surprised given the few weeks I had) I made my home made veggie soup to go with my lunches for the week, I upped my water intake to 3 litres, I was feeling good, I got back to the gym for a circuits class.

But my body wasn't done with me being sick and my fake sounding, throat tearing cough decided to act up! I was coughing like a crazy woman, couldn't catch my breath and only thing that was stopping the cough was  when my stomach turned itself from the coughing! nice, right!
I couldn't sleep and this fits went on for hours on end!
It was horrible, it was exhausting and I spent 2 full days at home sick!!
I drank shed loads of water but my food wasn't great!! I crave sugary things more when I'm sick.
I went to another circuit class towards the end of the week and coughed my way through it, but I think it helped me and my breathing a little bit (sounds mad I know!)

I was out Friday night at a hen party, I avoided all the lovely finger food and stuck to the voddy J I enjoyed myself and dodged the post drinks trip to McDonald's. But danced like a looney and enjoyed my night out with the girls.

MY RESULT
I faced the scales on Saturday morning after my boozey night out and I was down 2lbs, she said it probably would have been more but with all the alcohol in my system its hard to tell!
SO I’m hoping that I've got another pound off for next weeks weigh in before I even start my new week.

All in all, not a bad result considering I was still a bit sick!! I’m glad that I forced myself to attend 2 circuit classes, I really think that they helped me to get back on track. If I could be down 2-3lbs every week for the next few weeks then I’d be doing very well

MY NEXT CHALLENGE

I must tell you all that I’m once again taking part in The Skinny Doll’s latest challenge 14 x 14 Challenge. It’s a another great challenge and the number of people taking part is motivation in itself. Losing 1lb a week means being down 14 pounds by the end of the year, that a stone and possibly a dress size for some people.. nothing shabby about that at all I must admit.

So because of my bad start to the Doll’s challenge, I will be aiming for 2-3lbs weekly to catch up with everyone else, who are doing great by the way J

How was your week? I hope your doing well and starting to see and feel the results.

Greedy Pig goes on Holidays‏ - The Post Mortem!

I've been putting off writing this post for over a week now! Why you may wonder? Well its because I knew that by writing to you lot and updating ye on my “progress” or lack of progress than I would have to stand up and take responsibility for my poor choices in the food department and explain the almost pregnant like pouch that has appeared on the top of my stomach. I look like a bloated over-sized whale and don’t feel much better for it. But I knew that by coming clean to you guys I would also have to admit to myself that I can’t eat whatever I like whenever I like and to be honest I probably never will be able to eat like that!! But most of the time I don’t feel the need to eat cake everyday on top of all the other crap I could stuff in if I tried!

I've gotten lazy with myself and have left the None Scale Victories go to my head and because of that the scales started to tip in the wrong direction and I turned a blind eye, cuz my jeans were new and a size smaller!!
I realize that we are all guilty of this and I have done this on many a weekend and just ate for 2 days solid but then pulled it back in and copped on.
HOWEVER this bought of lazy couldn't have come at a worse time for me and panic is the word I’d use today as to how I’m feeling about it all!!

23 days is my count at the moment of how many days I've been off plan and being a greedy pig!! I think it’s the longest consecutive  time that I've done this in AGES!

I think I need to back track to explain myself a little better.  As you all know I was suffering from total exhaustion and was burnt out completely and not feeling great. In my last post I told you  all that I was going on a well needed holiday to recharge my batteries and come back ready to face the world and get another stone off ASAP. That was the plan.
What actually happened was after a fantastic hen weekend in Galway, I never went back to being good, yes I went to my 2 gym classes but I was snacking that week and allowing myself to go into “holiday mode” before I ever set foot in the airport. The morning that I was due to fly out on my holidays I faced the scales to assess the hen and snacking damage and I was up 4lbs.
Up 4lbs before I even got on the plane or had to put on a bikini!!! NOT GOOD!
But I decided not to let it upset me, I was after all going on my holidays… For those 7 days I enjoyed the 34degree heat and ate out twice a day, everyday. I can honestly say I ate and drank my way through the week… But it was my holidays and these 7 days I was denying myself nothing.
I came back from holidays with the intentions of going back to the gym on the Monday evening and getting back to good and trying to do a little bit of post holiday damage control before facing the scales on the following Saturday. BUT myself and plane’s aren't friends and come Monday morning I was feeling like a head cold and flu was coming my way! And after a busy first day back at work I was shattered by 5pm and decided that going to the gym would be a bad idea. I don’t regret that decision. By Wednesday I had full on man flu and was feeling very sorry for myself. I worked through the whole week because I felt like I couldn't ask for time off after only coming back form my holidays, so all my effort went into focusing at work and getting thru the day. And of course this involved trips to the shop for coke and Wispa’s and biscuits to get me through. I had no taste and less of a smell than usual so I was craving sugar and hot food!!
You can see where I’m going with this? So the week at work had me eating crap and feeling rotten because of it but feeling too sorry for myself to stop myself or “care” about what I was doing!!

I was DREADING my post holiday weigh in, especially when I reckon I done more damage at work during the week then I had during my whole holiday!!! I was so close to cancelling my appointment and when I got there she told me Id be waiting 20 minutes, I almost ran out the door  BUT I didn't, I knew that I was getting out of control and that I had to be reined in and also that I had to take the control back and stop blaming me being sick!!! I get head colds ALL the time and don’t behave like a starved drama queen!! I was feeling verrry sorry for myself and ice cream was my only friend!!

So I hit the scales, up 6 lbs **gulp**sigh** Got a new food diary, had a stern talking to myself (Am I the only one that does this?) Made a shopping list and a food plan for the week and also made a batch of homemade veggie soup as a filler in-case the sugar withdrawal headaches are as awful as I remember!

So 23 days of gluttony have come to an end. This post is a week late! I could have stopped this madness 7 days ago but I didn't! and because of that I have gained 10lbs in 23 days!!!

Its gonna take me a tad longer than 23 days to get rid of those 10lbs I’m guessing!

Here’s my issues with the timing (that’s that there’s ever a good time to gain 10 pounds)
  • ·         I have something on every weekend for the next 7 weeks
  • ·         I have a dress fitting for my Bridesmaids dress NEXT WEEK
  • ·         The Wedding is in 6 WEEKS
  • ·         I feel horrible and bloated and gross
  • ·         My Jeans no longer need a belt!
  • ·         This is all my own doing

But none of the above are an excuse. For me this is the kick up the arse that I need at the moment. I need to get back to clean eating and moving a LOT more! I know what to do at this stage! Hell we all do!! I’m preaching to the choir at this stage.. So that’s it for now. I’m planning to blog a little more regularly over the next few weeks to get me back on track.. I’m aiming for a loss of 2-3lbs a week for the next few weeks, I need to get these 10lbs off as quickly as they went on and then I’ll deal with the rest…

A Fresh Start!

Hey Guys,

I’m back and it ain’t good or pretty news that I have to report, but after a fellow blogger advised me to rip the plaster off and start again by putting the bad behind me, I decided he was right.

So I hit the scales on Saturday morning, horrendously hung over and faced the music, the damage you ask? Up 4lbs on the scales, now only 1.5lbs of that was fat, so we’re unsure if the booze was still in my system 12 hours later and put the reading off! I’m not looking for a cop out, I deserve to be up, but it is a possibility that the booze in my system fecked up the reading.
So the plaster has been ripped off!

Last week I was doing my exercise and eating the usually but I was also having lotsa ice cream and other lovely things with this fab weather, I was pretending I was on my holidays sitting out my back garden (we have to make the most of it while we can) I was out with work on Friday evening, dinner and a retirement part (free food & drinks meant I was there J)  So instead of having my usual pizza that I have when we go to this particular pub, I opted for parsnip chips and chicken gougons, and dya know, it was yummy and tasty and filling and I didn’t feel as guilty or as bloated as I would have had I eaten a full pizza to myself (which I would have done) Sharing food is something I’ll be working on forever I think, lol.. its just not in me!

So I ate out and choose wisely, I faced the scales and made a decision that I need to get back to giving myself the time and allowing myself to achieve my goal!
I’m 6 months in and I’m at 30% with regards my target, that’s not even at the half way mark yet for me!

So as I mentioned last week, I need a new challenge, a new exercise, a new routine to kickstart my bum back into gear and to get the scales moving in my favour once again.
I know I shouldn’t let the numbers affect me and upset me, but they do!! But that’s another story!!

So my local gym have advertised for a 6 week weight loss course and I’ve signed up. It will include 2 classes a week specifically for the people on the course, weekly food plans, weigh in’s and measurements will be taken on week 1, 3 & 6.
I don’t know anymore than that for the moment, I’ll know more after the meeting tonight, but I’m excited about this and 6 weeks will bring me right up to my week off work and Michael Buble Concert. So getting new clothes for my future husbands concert will be my new short term goal.

I’ll report back during the week when I have more details to share and I’ll also take photos tonight before week one commences.

I hope you’ve been enjoying the sunshine and making the most of it and getting outside.
