February 2017 update

I feel like I missed February!

So those of you that follow me in Instagram or snap chat will know that my tummy bug turned into Viral Gastro & low blood pressure…

2 visits to the doctor…..
I was contagious for 10 full days, then had to stay home for a further 48 hours to make sure it was gone!!! There was nothing I could take for it as I had to let it “run its course!”

I was weak as water, and on orders to eat little and often and REST (which meant naps &  a LOT of tv!!)

When I went back to the gym and my instructor did not want to weigh me, as he said it wouldn’t count after 2 weeks of sickness and loss of muscle mass.. but I wanted to weigh in, so that I could be accountable….. (I was up 1.3kgs/ 2.8lbs)

It couldn’t be helped and it definitely could have been a lot worse! But to be honest I didn’t care that night, I knew where I stood and was ready to get back to life……

I was just so happy to be back at work and the gym, and out of the house…

So last week was just me and my body readjusting to real life and routine after 2 weeks of naps and repeats of Say yes to the Dress

Tuesday 28th Feb  was the only weigh in that officially counts for this month…..  I was down 1kg / 2 lbs

And THAT is why I feel like I missed February!

I have 4 weeks left in my personal training programme and I really need to make them count… my fitness levels are great, but my scales results are not….

My goal for March – lose 10lbs to get out of current stone bracket

What I've learned this month
 I need to stay positive
A setback does not mean a failure

Week 9 - You can’t out train a bad diet

They say you can’t out train a bad diet.. I’ve heard this so many times and dismissed it if I’m being honest!!

I was off work for a week and away for a couple of days, I was advised to still train on my week off as, a whole week away from training would set me back!!

So I went training on the Thurs, Fri and Sat of my week off..

I went training because I “had to” more than because I wanted too.. I went training but I wasn’t being careful with my food (food shop on my week off…. Eh no!!  I don’t think so!! )

In the words of Pretty Woman “BIG MISTAKE”

That Thursday evening during my 30 min personal training session  I was not feeling very well, I got about 20 mins in and I apologised and ran to the loo…. I DIDN’T vomit but I was so close to it!
My trainer came to check on me and said our session was done for the day!

The reason for this embarrassing mishap was because I had eaten out that day and not made good choices since I was “on my holidays”  it had to catch up with me and with the way things go for me it’s always in the worst possible way!! Lesson learned but the hard way as usual… and my trainer knew, his parting words to me that evening were.. “make sure to do your food shop….”

He was right… I can’t eat like that and train like I want too.. I can’t do it and my body is agreeing with my trainers

There’s absolutely no point in me working my ass off in the gym and then not fueling my body correctly to reap the benefits!!! It all makes perfect sense! But this is me out and out with the typical Irish attitude of “era twil be grand”  it wasn’t, I wasn’t.. I’m not the exception to ANY rule and there are no secrets to losing weight!!

Eat the right foods and move move move (oh and lotsa water)

Fridays PT was better because I ate light before I went (lesson learned) and Saturdays Spin was a help to ease out my very achy legs…

So basically after a week of poor eating and training 3 days in a row I felt like I was back at square one fitness wise!!!

I also (as much as I didn’t want too) faced the scales and took my 4kg (8.8lbs) weight gain!

This was the switch that needed to click in my head.. THIS IS MY LIFESTYLE CHANGE….I’m a lifer, I cannot go rouge and eat like a glutton for 10 days without consequences

So I drew a line and did my meal plan/ food shop

Lesson learned I cannot out train a bad diet….. Plus it a lifestyle change NOT a diet......

Slimming World Overnight Oats & Weigh In Week 8

How do I make my Overnight oats is a question I'm asked almost weekly on my Instagram account. its such an easy breakfast to prepare and surprisingly filling also.

So I've finally decided to write a "How To" post on it

Ingredients:
35g Quick Oats   (Healthy Extra B)
Mullerlight Yogurt (Free)
Fruit (fresh or frozen) (Superfree)

Slimming World Overnight Oats

 1. Add scoop of Oats to glass, 1 scoop = 15g Oats,

2. Next add in yogurt to cover the oats ( I used Mullerlight Vanilla with chocolate sprinkles)

3. Add in your fruit (I use frozen raspberries)

4. Repeat step one, by adding another scoop of oats (1 scoop = 15g Oats)

5. Add in the remaining yogurt

6. Top with fruit

Slimming World Overnight Oats

7. Place in Fridge overnight

8. Remove from fridge, grab spoon & enjoy
(I have to take mine out at least 30mins before I eat because its too cold, but that's just my preference)

Slimming World Overnight Oats

This is a lovely breakfast even if your not following the Slimming World Plan.
The recipe says you can use 35g of Oats, I personally just use 30g grams, because my scoops is 15g a go and its easier.

This breakfast is surprisingly filling for the size of it, I eat with my eyes and at the start thought this was tiiiiiny.. BUT... I've been proven happily wrong :)

Have you tried Overnight Oats? Or do you plan to now?
Let me know how you get on if you do try them :)

This week, I weighed in on Thursday evening, at my own group. I was  down 2.5lbs

Weight lost to date: 8.5lbs
Onwards and Downwards, the Slimming World way :)

Setting Goals for Sep/ Oct 2014 & Weigh In

Weigh In & Healthy Eating

I'm happy to report that I was down 3.5lbs on Thursday evening, so I was happy with that.. its a good start to getting the "happy holiday pounds" back off.

I must admit, I feel a lot better in myself this week after eating well and drinking lots of water, my belly in working order and the bloated feeling has gone and my skin seems/ feels clearer and best of all I've taken back control.

I know that sounds silly when we're talking about food. Bit when I eat badly its a downward spiral for me, the more crap I eat, the more I crave/want it, the worse I feel and the Guilts,
OH the guilts, they're just awful and so not worth it really!!

But when I'm on plan, eating well, deciding and planning my daily meals, I feel good and have no guilt that I'm saving my syns to get my sugar fix everyday.. Its a better way to be and it suits me better, it keeps my mood swings at bay and its less of a headmelt for me since food is constantly on my mind. Its great to say that I'm loosing weight and still eating chocolate everyday.

Resetting Goals

So I've been thinking that maybe I should reset a few goals for myself for the month ahead to help keep me motivated and focused

1. Stay within my syns everyday and on the Slimming World plan.

2. Get out and walk, even if just for 20 minutes

3. Look for a circuit class/ boot camp or spinning class in my area and book in (I think I need the structure of booking in back in my life)

5. Get my 1 stone cert, 1.5 stone cert, Club 10 award

6. Try new recipes and food.

Goals

13 weeks to Christmas, my goal is to buy a gorgeous dress for my Christmas party in a size smaller.
Have you set yourself some goals or targets to get you through the next few months?

Week 10 Weigh-in 2013‏

Hey Guys,

I'm happy to report that I hit the scales and was down 2lbs.. Woo Hoo :)

I stuck to my food plan 100% no sugar or junk and I didn't eat after 7pm any night.

My exercise still isn't back to where it was as my annoying cough still hasn't left the building! I managed 2 x lunch time walks and I chanced one class that was 25 mins spinning and 25 mins abs, I coughed my way through the first 10 mins but I was ok after that, phew :)

You can see from the blog that I changed my nail colour's A LOT this week, lol.. And it worked to my advantage :) I didn't eat and someone else had to make the tea

Also as a treat I had a shrinking violet wrap and lost 5 inches from my wobbly bits in under a hour, so I'm very happy over all this week.

This post is short and sweet, I promise to get back to proper blogging about my journey soon because its exactly that a long journey for me.

I hope you got good results this week and enjoyed the St Paddies Day Festivities :)

12lbs  lost, 48lbs to go....

My Daily Food Diary in photo form

Source: Google Images

Hey Guys,

Happy Friday, I hope you’ve been having a good week so far? I get a lot when people hear that I’m on my health kick/ weigh loss programme about what and when do I eat?
Trust me, I wouldn’t last on a starvation diet. I heart food waaaay too much and I know I’d break after 2 hours!! I’ve never even managed to do the 24 hour fast at Christmas that people used to do for charity!! How they lived on water and soup for 24 hours was madness in my mind! Fair play to all that have managed it though!

So I decided that I would take photos of what I eat everyday this week and show you what I’ve been eating.

Breakfast is 2 x Weetabix with skimmed milk, I heat it in the microwave and eat it as quick as I can. I just don’t like it!!

Mid Morning I have my pear and a cup of Pu-erh Tea. I drink maybe 3 or 4 cups of P tea during the working day.

Lunch at work is my Home made soup and 2 slices of McCambridge Soda Bread with butter, sometimes I toast this if I’m cold.

Dinner at home is a Chicken Fillet (Roasted with spices thrown over for flavor,)  2 Boiled potatoes mashed with gravy over and steamed Vegetables (peas, carrots, broccoli and cauliflower)

I don’t eat after my dinner. I allow myself 4 cups of “real” tea in the evening time. I love real tea there was time that I would drink 10 in the day, so cutting it to 4 is me being good.

I also drink at least 2 litres of water at work everyday and I’d have a glass of water with my dinner too..

You can tell from the above that I’m a pretty plain and boring eater, but it works for me. I wish I could sit and eat a salad. I’m told they can be filling and would bulk up my lunch, but I’ve never liked salad.

If you have any suggestions of spices to put on my chicken fillet to jazz it up, I'd love to hear em.
